VIRGINS FROM HELL (1987) - 94 minutes of pure entertainment!

This cheap exploitation thriller from Indonesia has more fun, laughs and cheesy excitement than you can imagine.  If you mixed THE BIG BIRD CAGE, ENTER THE DRAGON, and CHARLIE'S ANGELS together into one movie, you would end up with VIRGINS FROM HELL.

It starts out with a female biker gang attacking a casino.  Each member of the gang is dressed in a colorful outfit consisting of leather shorts (or skirts) and leather boots.  They bust into the casino firing machine guns and whacking guys with punches and karate kicks.

Here are some reasons to watch it:

* The dubbed dialogue is often hilarious
* The villain ("Mr. Tiger") has a dubbed in voice that sounds exactly like Santa in the Rankin/Bass holiday special THE YEAR WITHOUT A SANTA CLAUS
* The villain has a lesbian working for him who has a scorpion tattooed on her face
* A woman is tied to a huge spit and roasted over hot coals
* A guy gets aome sort of powder (gunpowder, I assume) poured on him, then he gets shot and his body explodes
* In order to remove a bullet from a guy's leg, they stick a live snake's head into the bullet hole
* A guy gets injected with a chemical that causes big, oozing, bloody blisters to pop up all over his body
* The kicks and punches usually don't come within 6 inches of the victim's body - - but you still hear the typical "cracking whip" sound effect that is common in martial arts movies
* The plot involves manufacturing and distributing a powerful aphrodesiac
* A woman is tied in a canvas sack with some sort of wild animal (it looks sort of like a ferret or something)
* A woman is hung by her arms in the middle of 4 poles with barbed wire wrapped around them.  Then the guards push her back and forth so that her body scrapes against the barbed wire
* A guy gets impaled on a tree branch
* A woman steps on a rat and then smears the rat's blood all over her body
* Mr. Tiger whips 2 women in slow motion
* The movie contains lots of shooting, fighting, and pyrotechnics

This is nothing but a cheap, endless procession of cheesy exploitation scenes.  But it never gets boring and the 94 minutes passes very quickly.  The 2 disc DVD is available from MONDO MACABRO.  Disc #2 is full of special feature (which I have not watched yet), but it supposedly has 70 minutes of movie trailers from the studio that made VIRGINS FROM HELL.  I would love to get my hands on some more of these cheap (but very fun) Indonesian action films.

And how could I forget:

* A woman fights a rubber crocodile in a swamp
* A guy has sex with a drugged woman while a tune that sounds sort of like KNIGHTS IN WHITE SATIN being played on a flute plays on the soundtrack

So much cheapo-sleazo madness crammed into 94 minutes!
