KYGOTC - I love those early Gwar albums. slutman city rocks

rev powell- speaking kind of of dark ambient, you should check out richard youngs "advent" sometime.  it's completely crazy.  two piano notes played again and again with various accompaniment for like a half an hour.  it's an experience

I'll try to check it out sometime, but if you like experimental minimalist stuff like that I recommend you try Gavin Bryars' "Jesus Blood Never Failed Me Yet," which is an hour of a tramp singing three lines of an old spiritual, looped over and over, with very slowly developing orchestral accompaniment.  Like it or not, it's quite an experience.

"Classic Erasmus Fusion" by Volcano the Bear

The may be the best totally free, Creative Commons license album I've ever heard.  Try it if you like experimental psychedelic prog rock in the vein of early King Crimson, Captain Beefheart, Sid Barrett era Pink Floyd, etc.

It's possible you heard the earlier recording which ran about 1/2 hour, I think.  It was expanded in the 1990s with Tom Waits singing along.

Stop Drop and Roll!!! by Foxboro Hot Tubs (more or less Green Day, but nothing like their other material.  Very '60s Garage rock.  Highly suggested)

Spike Jones All Time Greatest Hits 3 CD Set- a pioneer of novelty/comedy music from the '40s era.  Good stuff.

Bring It On! by HorrorPops.  I dunno if anyone here likes punk, ska, rockabilly or psychobilly, but these guys are worth checking out.
