One old guy, so many movies.

Before those who care start yelling about the idiots at the SciFi Channel, it appears that MGM pulled the plug on the show because of the cost and they want to launch another series called Stargate Universe.  They can't support two shows at a time.

SGA will end in January in a cliffhanger which will be followed up by a TV movie to wrap up the show. Evidently they are hoping to make several of these movies to continue franchise.

I'm sure the cancellation has nothing to do with ratings.

It's had a good run. All things must come to an end.

The ratings for the show have steadily declined, as did those for SG-1 in its last two years. Why do they think launching a third series is the way to go?

Five years is a good run for a genre series. I wonder if MGM will pull the plug on the new series after five years (if it lasts that long).

The FDA has been looking for a generic name for Viagra. After careful consideration by a team of government experts, it recently announced that it has settled on the generic name of Mycoxafloppin. Also considered were Mycoxafailin, Mydixadrupin, Mydixarizin, Dixafix, and of course, Ibepokin.

It's been a good show, with good characters and interesting plots, but I haven't really bothered to catch it on Friday night since about season 3.  They show so many reruns, why bother.  For a while there I found it fairly exciting, but the plots seem to have gotten pretty repetitive.  Also, I really liked Elizabeth Weir as the commander, and Samantha Carter was good as well, but now they've got that guy who played the doctor on Voyager, and he's been a total jerk on SG-1.  Putting him in command was a huge turnoff for me.

Maybe it's time they started a new series, since they seem to have run out of ideas for this one.  Too bad though, those were some really good characters.

Rats.  One of the few shows I bother to watch.  Appreciated the humour value.

If they cancelled it due to costs...it does sort of imply that the proposed new series will be done on the cheap.  Not good.

HELP! WE ARE STUCK IN A GOOD MOVIE!!!

« Reply #5 on: August 31, 2008, 10:19:57 AM »

I never really got into the show.  I did watch a few episodes and I thought that they were good.  I just had other things going on in my life to really devote anymore time to TV.  I will say this will stink when they pull this show.  Because you know that they will most likely put Scare Tactics or Raw in that time slot (both shows remind me of vomit  Bluesad).  Unfortunately there is nothing that we can do except stop watching SciFi but I can't do that, because there are a lot of good shows/movies on this channel.

Maybe they will be off for a few seasons and then make a comeback do to people complaining.

My two cents.

There's one show I wish they cancelled but it didn't started yet The New Knight Rider.
