Brilliant acting on Phoenix's part, perfect straight man setups and one-liners from Letterman, who I really doubt was in on it ahead of time. That's all I can figure. Surely Joaquin Phoenix doesn't use drugs after watching his big brother die from a speedball, right? I hope...
