Here's an intresting film.

I'm not sure it fully deserves to be on the 'Good Movies' board, but I really didn't think it deserved to be on the 'Bad Movies' one.

The story start with Carol (Jenniffer Jason Leigh) inheriting a run down club, flat and other rooms above it from her uncle. She's a slightly innocent person, she even says that she'll always be 'delicate'. Her mother says her uncle only put the place in her name so he didn't have pay the taxes on it.

After moving in she looks at the other rooms on the floor of her flat, she notices that there's on like a beach, one like a dungeon, even one like a child's bedroom...
It seems kinda obvious what these rooms are for...There are two way mirrors and she find vidoe tapes. All these rooms are neglected and abandoned looking. Its all quite spooky(except her flat, which looks fine).
Her uncle wasn't such a nice guy.

One evening she gets raped, when she goes to the police they're less than helpfull becuse of her history of disturbing behavior amoungst other things.

After that she keeps having nightmares and disturbing images that are very Lynch-like. She keeps seeing apples. She starts to think that might even be someone living with her...

Here's the thing, its very low buget and looks it. Nothing really happens plot wise until the last half an hour. The film does have seedy, uncomfortable feeling to it.
Its kinda bleak, the weird dreams aren't really scary enough.
The plot doesn't really go anywhere (I actually forgot she got raped because it had been so long since anything happened.). Its pretty much everything you expect. But it is something different and I think JJL gives a strong performance, it is spooky, it's just not enough spooky.

2.75/5
