Not sure I support the possibility a crystal clear, vibrant restored print of this movie.  I like the muddy, cruddy look of MANOS.  It's part of the film's (very limited and specialized) appeal.  "Every frame of this film looks like somebody's last known photograph!"

In other words, they made H.P. Lovecraft goo, not H.G. Wells goo. They need to keep their mutants straight."-Joe Bob on FOOD OF THE GODS II

HELP! WE ARE STUCK IN A GOOD MOVIE!!!

I do like the HD but I will have to second this.  The grainy last know photograph appeal makes this film fun.

Say no to HD on this one.   Cheers

Later,

John

Some movies just look like they belong on old worn out videotapes.  This is one of them.

I looked at the screenshot on there and I do like how it looks. Its still a little beat up but it looks like it would watching it in a theater. I was surprised a work print was even made for the film.

I especially love the part where it shows the original opening shots.

I love the crappy DVD I have of this movie, but I'm all for a restoration.  It'll still look like crap!  :)

I don't know if anyone has checked the site recently but they've more than met their goal of $10,000.  They have pledges totalling $22,053!  They should be able to afford to produce some extras for the Blu-ray/DVD and maybe a 35mm preservation negative.  I might chip in a few bucks so I can get a pin or t-shirt.

Don't get me wrong, I love the b-movies (obviously or I wouldn't be hanging out here), but if MANOS gets a blu-ray release when LAWRENCE OF ARABIA still doesn't have one, there are going to be repercussions.

Surely LAWRENCE is in the works.  Really, there are tons of films that deserve restoration and distribution long before this, but hey, it's a collector who took a chance on funding from fans and it worked!  So I'm happy about that.
