Well, it's the best movie of 2012, but the year is still young.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-M5Qx57_UU" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-M5Qx57_UU</a>

Three high school seniors encounter some sort of alien artifact and gain telekinetic powers.  Instead of dressing up in costumes and fighting crime, they goof around and play pranks, until the kid who everyone picks on decides now is the time to fight back.  An interesting spin on the "superhero" genre.  It's a "found footage"-style film, which I thought was a negative.  I'm getting a little tired of this gimmick and there was no good reason to utilize it in this case.  Other than that, I'd say it was a good, not great, little action/drama.  Special effects aren't bad; I loved the scenes of them flying through the clouds.  Catch it while you can. 3.5/5.

"...I don't know if these turkeys from Canada even read the original H.G. Wells story. The food of the gods--the icky stiff you eat right before you become a giant mutating cancerous cannibal--is supposed to be milky white goo. These guys made it into a green serum. In other words, they made H.P. Lovecraft goo, not H.G. Wells goo. They need to keep their mutants straight."-Joe Bob on FOOD OF THE GODS II

Yeah, I ended up liking this one a lot more than I was expecting to.  I'm not much of a comic book/superhero kinda guy - to be honest, I NEVER would have made that connection about this movie if I hadn't read it first (but, I get it now).  To me, it reminded me more of something along the lines of Carrie.  Also, it caught me a little off guard a few times as far as the tone went (I'm kinda surprised it came in at a PG-13), and it went a few places that I didn't expect (not surprises or twists, per se, but just things I wouldn't have expected this movie to do).  Good flick though, and I agree with Rev - the found footage wasn't really necessary (although, I will say that they did a better job than a lot of them as far as justifying why the camera is ALWAYS running).

SPOILER ALERT:

At the ending, there are some credits...

Surprisingly good for one of those movies where everything is recorded on in-movie cameras.

Found it kinda funny that footage from civilian's iPhones were so high quality.

There is a quote my Boyfriend mentioned after we left the cinema

"Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power." — Abraham Lincoln.

Cause you see how all 3 boys handle having that kind off power. The kid who gets picked on, takes no mercy, cause he never got much off that, from his home life, or peers. And saw himself as the "apex predator" Seeing it as Justice. His Cusion, understood that now he has power he must understand consiqence. And their Mutural Friend, Did not change much, He just had fun with it, And it did not change his opinyion on things, Himself or other people.

That makes you think how you would react to that much power. You Could do extreme good or bad. Which is the punch line in any super hero story.

I found Chronicle very enjoyable!  Kind of like an updated Carrie, but with friends.  TeddyR
