I think it was 60s.  Maybe early 70s.  People sign up to play this deadly game where they kill each -- I think two people are assigned to each other -- and after someone has been the winner ten times, that is, killed ten people, they win a lot of money (and acclaim?).  WHAT IS THE TITLE?  Or who's in it?

Newt

La Decima Vittima (1965) aka The Tenth Victim    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0059095/

Starring Marcello Mastroianni and Ursula Andress

A campy futuristic tale where people hunt one another for sport.  Victim and Hunter run around Italy trying to score a kill in front of film crews.

As per a previous note from Rev. Powell, I think this one is solved (the title refers directly to the original poster's detail about the goal being to kill TEN victims...) yet if the poster was going to come back and confirm, they would have a long time ago. Maybe move to the Irrelevant/Unconfirmable file... I will try not to suggest that unless it seems the mystery was almost certainly solved yet the poster never replied to confirm.......
