I'm a fan! Also loved the Fractured Fairy Tales, where they'd go for five minutes just to set up a groaner pun at the end, and Dudley Do-Right!

"Clive [Barker]'s idea of a great time is to have a nightmare about a woman with three heads and no skin who flays your body with a pitchfork. To give you some idea, NIGHTBREED has over 200 pus monsters, including one guy with a crescent moonhead like the McDonald's commercial and a fat guy with snakes that pop out of his stomach and eat your face off, and these are the GOOD GUYS. These are the people we're supposed to LIKE."-Joe Bob on NIGHTBREED

And "Aesop and Son"

What I enjoyed most about all of these was the wonderful vocal talents that voiced the characters. Talents like . . .

Walter Tetley -- Bill Scott -- Charlie Ruggles -- Edward Everett Horton -- Paul Frees -- June Foray -- Hans Conreid -- William Conrad -- Daws Butler -- and Leon Askin.

The show also has an interesting history (IMHO.) Originally known as "Rocky and Friends" it began in 1959 and ran till 1961, when it was reformatted as "The Bullwinkle Show" and ran till 1963, but . . .?! The originals were so good that they have been reran almost continually since then, picking up new fans and still amusing the old fans.

Though, what I find interesting, what may work on the small screen, may not work on the big screen. There have been attempts . . .

"The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle" -- "Boris and Natasha" (originally scheduled for the big screen, but . . .?! reduced to a TV movie) -- "Dudley Do-Right" -- and "Mr. Peabody and Sherman"

to bring what worked on the TV screen to the film screen. Though . . .?! seemingly with the notable lack of success that they enjoyed all the small screen.

It's one of the few cartoons where the creators actually got threatened with jail time. To elucidate, there had been a Dudley Do-Right short called Stokey the Bear, where Dudley had to deal with the titular bear who started forest fires. The Forest Service had a collective apoplexy and demanded that it never be aired again. Creators of so-called edgy cartoons only dream of having that sort of street cred. Fortunately it resurfaced when the first season DVD collection was released.

If it's true what they say, that GOD created us in His image, then why should we not love creating, and why should we not continue to do so, as carefully and ethically as we can, on whatever scale we're capable of?

The choice is simple; refuse to create, and refuse to grow, or build, with care and love.
