Just so you guys know, I'm not a big connoisseur of plays. I don't enjoy them nearly as much as movies and they're way more expensive so it's rare for me to see one.
I was very curious about Hamilton though thanks to a YouTuber named JacksFilms who has made parodies of it.
The other thing you need to know is that I don't much care for rap. But I was just so curious about the play I had to see it when it came to the Orpheum.
For as much as it's worth Hamilton is by far the best play that I've been to. It's fun, energetic, brilliantly written, and I enjoyed it the whole way through.

In case the title didn't make it obvious Hamilton is based on the life of founding father and the first Secretary of the Treasury, Alexander Hamilton.
It chronicles his life before the Revolution, the war itself, his time in office, his family life, and obviously the duel where he would be fatally shot by Senator Aaron Burr.
It's obviously contemporary in nature using rap which is a very young genre of music and features a racially diverse cast. I find it hilariously ironic that Thomas Jefferson is played by a black guy.

I learned some new things as well, about how after Hamilton's death his wife opened the first orphanage in New York, the fact his son was killed in a duel before him, and most interestingly, he fired his gun at the sky in his famous duel against Aaron Burr.

I definitely wouldn't mind seeing it again. But given how much they charge for tickets, I would imagine I'll have to get an illegal recording somewhere for that to happen.
Still, I'm glad I got to see it in person, even though I had arguably the worst seat in the house (Front row, very last seat on the left, right next to a speaker).

A good bad movie is like popcorn for the soul!

I envy that you've seen it!  I have the sound track and have every song memorized; it's perfect for singing along on long road trips (my wife might dissent here, though!).  With the price of tickets, I don't know that I will ever get to see it but I am anxiously awaiting the official video release.

BTW, the play is loosely based on Ronald Charnow's biography of Hamilton.  Lin-Manuel Miranda conflated and simplified the story greatly, but if you want to get the full scoop that is a good place to start.  I was a fan of Hamilton the man long before the musical came along.

Or, one can see it, when it comes to a film theater near you. While no release date for the film is given, the musical is in development to be made into a film. Thus, I am looking for a release date some time next year or 2019.

The Official Hamilton Polka by Weird Al Yankovic.  Lin-Manuel Miranda, writer/director/performer in the Hamilton play, is a friend of Al's and had Al do a medley of various songs from the play in polka form.
