Title: Got a scare this morning
Post by: AndyC on October 16, 2001, 11:27:39 AM
As I was driving to work this morning, I was listening to the radio. Just before going into a commercial break, they announced that coming up would be good news and bad news for Star Wars fans. Considering the recent goings on, I wasn't sure just to expect. A delay of the release for Episode 2: Send in the Clones?

Turns out the good news was a reminder that the Phantom Menace DVD is being released (ok, but still apprehensive about the bad news), and the bad news was that the additional scenes would include more Jar Jar. Jeez, those morning radio people have a cruel sense of humour. At least they hate Jar Jar.

Granted, Episode 1 was a disappointment, but I'm still looking forward to 2, in hopes that Lucas might have learned from his mistakes (don't laugh), and especially in hopes that they will finally show me even one of the things I was hoping to see in 1999. I really wouldn't want any delays. I'd hate to prolong the anticipation for a movie that has an equal chance of being either an instant classic or a disappointing piece of crap. I need to know.

In hindsight, it seems unlikely that it would have been delayed, but stranger things have happened.

This is how quickly things have returned to "normal": this weekend SciFi is running Meteor. You know, the one where Manhattan gets leveled by a falling object, leaving a huge smoking crater. The one with the shot of the WTC Towers being sliced through.

Better than showing Armaggedeon, now that would hurt.  :)

I'm also looking forward to Episode 2 (even if it's got the lamest name, like ever). I just hope, for the movie's sake, it doesn't have as much hype as the first one.

Here's hoping for Jar-Jar's death!
