Title: Monster (2003) Post by: Mr. DS on September 11, 2010, 07:47:48 PM I ended up catching this the other day and was amazed by it's reality. It was one of these movies I always meant to get around to but never did. Theron deserved the award she received for this role and then some. I've seen interviews with Wuornos and comparitve to those, I can say she honestly had all the manuerisms down perfectly. I think what the film did brilliantly is they gave the character a soul while not denying she was a cold blooded murderer.

Title: Re: Monster (2003) Post by: Flick James on September 24, 2010, 10:01:08 AM I thought it was very good and a fine performance, so I'm not disrespecting it in any way. However, Charlize got the Oscar because she is gorgeous and made herself ugly. If you're a Hollywood celebrity known for looking good and even a halfway decent actress, just make yourself ugly for a role or play a mentally challenged role and you're almost guaranteed an Oscar nomination. You may not win, but you'll certainly get the nod.
Was that misanthropic? Title: Re: Monster (2003) Post by: 10,000 Volt Ghost on September 25, 2010, 11:18:55 AM Great film. I ended up watching a documentary about her story after seeing monster. Might have just been a made for tv documentary but it was pretty good too.
