Title: IMAGINARY (2024)
Post by: indianasmith on March 17, 2024, 10:57:29 PM
My daughter and I went to see this one tonight, and having not seen a single trailer, I went in completely cold.
I was blown away by just how good this PG-13 horror turned out to be!
Quick synopsis:  Jessie and her new husband move into her Dad's old house.  The husband has two daughters by his first wife, Taylor, age 15, and Alice, age 8.
While playing in the basement, Alice finds an old teddy bear she names Chauncey, who quickly becomes her imaginary friend.
Jessica notices that Alice soon wants to play more and more with Chauncey and less and less with her sister, and then Chauncey sends her on a scavenger hunt that turns into something more sinister than anyone could have bargained for, and similarities to Jessica's long-forgotten childhood trauma begin to emerge.
This film was brilliant and took some truly unexpected twists along the way.
Shades of SINISTER and INSIDIOUS, but taken in a new direction.  Highly recommended!  4/5
