Hey B-movie lovers!
What were some of the messier deaths you can recall in a film (doesn't have to be horror) where much red stuff (or innards, yummy!) was present?  Ones that made you stand and applaud, or get off the couch and high-five your friend?

A couple I liked:

A guy gets his head pulled off his body while screaming by a monster in THE RELIC.  Then the headless body gets thrown on spikes.  Yes!!!

A kid murders his mom and boyfriend with an axe while they're having kinky sex in NIGHTMARES IN A DAMAGED BRAIN (aka Nightmare).  IIRC he chops her in the neck, then beheads her (with loving closeup of spurting stump) and chops the boyfriend in the head.  More red stuff than an Italian restaurant could hope to have!

Well the best one in recent memory for me was when Pyramid Head ripped the entire skin off of that girl and flung against the church doors in SILENT HILL. Pretty unexpected for a relatively mainstream film.

Does all of DEAD ALIVE/BRAIN DAMAGE count?

Re-Animator has it's share of classic gory scenes. I'd have to say the most memorable for me was the organs bursting out of a headless body and attacking West. Very messed up. :teddyr: But the movie has more scenes of over-the-top gore than I would care to list.

List as many as you like!  My personal fave.. pulling the skin off the guy's face and leaving a screaming skull.  Hells yeah!

Zombie's tracheotomy scenes.. lots of gushing red stuff.  Nummy.

Rated R for an abundance of outrageous gore.

Starship Troopers 2 had some icky stuff in it.  A guy had a bunch of bugs growing inside of him, and his body was decaying, limbs falling off.  Another guy ripped the top of his skull off and bugs came pouring out.  A woman had a bug in her head, so she put a shotgun under her chin and blew her brains all over the freakin' place.  Icky  :teddyr:

Deepstar Six had a few good moments, such as Miguel Ferrer undergoing explosive decompression.

Made even better because Tom Savini is the guy being shot, AND he played the killer in that sequence.  They did the effect by actually shooting a fake head of Savini with a real shotgun - so, Tom Savini was shooting himself in the head!

The Big Heat (1988 loose Hong Kong remake, not the original) has a couple really good ones, especially because they're in the context of a cop show and for an HK film, the action scenes are relatively subdued.

One other one, which you can see glimpses of in the trailer.  In the opening, a guy gets chased and falls into a puddle of gasoline.  Then he gets lit on fire and runs around screaming for a while.  Then the bad guys RAM HIM with a car, he flies like 50 feet and smashes into a bunch of gasoline filled barrels which EXPLODE.

Ouch.  I almost gave up on that clip, but the end definitely fit this thread.

um...Antarctic researcher on table in The Thing (1982).

1.  I never learned in anatomy that we all have 'jaws' inside our chest cavity...

2.  That children's quirky saying "And his head pops off!" is given a whole new meaning...

3.  Apparantly we also have the ability to form some sort of flesh tentacle/tree with our innards which then can lash out at other researchers...

4.  What's that scuttering away on the floor??  Hey four eyes (two regular and two on stalks) stay for the BBQ!

I mean honestly, I have watched good horror movies and horrific horror movies, they all have gore in them.  What were Carpenter and Bottin smoking on this set???  OUTSTANDING gore!  I'm not even getting into the dog scene.....here poochie! (does he do that to every stranger??)

Things i've learned from this clip:

Apparantly, it is VERY difficult to insert a pin into a half dollar size hole when under pressure, it takes approx. 3 minutes.

When one has an injury roughly the size and depth of a papercut, one still must grimace and winch at the pain(because adrenaline would not push you through)

Gatling guns do not spin as i thought, nor expel empty shells, NOR run out of ammo

When the upper torso is cut into many pieces, gravity does not affect them.  Couple this with the fact that there is apparantly some sort of blood pump in the pelvis region (NEVER learned that in anatomy, who knew?)

One can STILL scream even when his/her face is non existant after being blow off with hundreds of shells.

One question:  do you think the guys in the adidas suits sleep in the same bed??
