Title: THE DARK SLEEP (2012)
Post by: indianasmith on May 20, 2013, 11:23:24 PM
What happens when the Polonia brothers take on H.P. Lovecraft's classic tale of brooding horror, "The Dreams in the Witch House"?

THIS!

Gone are the crumbling, eldritch ruins of colonial Boston, where the ancient home of hanged witch Keziah Mason perches in its rotting neighborhood, with its curiously angled walls and hidden attic niche where unspeakable things took place.  Gone, too, is the earnest young college student whose dreams are invaded by the blasphemous evil of Keziah, the Black Man, and her familiar, Brown Jenkin.

Instead we get a twentysomething author named Nancy Peterson who gets a nice country home in place of alimony from her obnoxious ex, a real estate dealer.  There is a cellar with a weird drawing on the wall, and she has bad dreams about cheap claymation monsters that move in bad stop motion animation fashion.

Then her sister comes to visit and stuff happens.

This is a bad movie, but at the same time, it is the best thing I have seen the Polonia brothers do.

By some coincidence I re-read Dreams In The Witch House a few days ago.  It's a great story and could be an awesome short film.  Having looked at the trailer, I don't think this is it.   :buggedout:

That actually looks pretty cool from the trailer (and I'm not using cool as a synonym for good here  :teddyr: ).  Looks like the budget was greater than every other Polonia bros. film I've ever seen combined.
