Last nite I watched "Fright Night" and wondered, What ever happened to these people

For the most part it was an unimpressive list of never heard-em films or tv shows that bombed for the cast. Then I got to Evil Ed (Stephen Geoffrey's). Geoffreys won the prestigious 1984 Theater World Award which is given out to 12 promising newcomers each year and has been bestowed since 1944. Before they were famous, winners included: Marlon Brando, Carol Burnett, Robert Redford, Paul Newman, Jane Fonda and Warren Beatty

He was nominated for a Tony in '84.  Following a few less popular films after "Fright Night", he began his gay porn career somewhere in the early 90's. Aww, what happened? He always had that crazy personality, I could have seen him continuing a career in b movies. :(

Yeah somehow I thought he'd wind up playing more kooky and off-kilter second fiddles and supporting roles as he got older, kind of a next generation Michael J.Pollard. Since he went into the porn biz, maybe he had a drug problem and needed work & quick money. Until I checked IMDB, I was under the impression he had died, guess not. Guess I heard a rumor or I'm mixing him up with Tom Villard for some reason.

Chris Sarandon has continued to work, often in bad stuff, never became a big star, but he's stayed busy. Seen him on a rerun of "Charmed" recently. Then again he was in "Bordello of Blood" and "The Osterman Weekend", poor guy.

I'd say Amanda Bearse made out okay as Marci on "Married With Children" for the whole run of the show, even became a prolific TV director of that show and lots of others.

Roddy McDowell, well I miss seeing him turn up in movies, but the FN films were some of the best of his later work. Besides he'd been around the film business all his life, he probably needed the rest. One of my favorite films, "Circle of Iron" is supposed to be out on DVD soon, he's even in that for a few minutes.

William Ragsdale deserves to be forgotten after making crap like "Mannequin 2" (It's a bad choice to take Andrew McCarthy's sloppy seconds) and "Herman's Head".  But I see he's had recurring roles on TV in "Less Than Perfect" and "Judging Amy", so he's still working steady too from the look of it.

Jonathan Stark appears to have become a writer/producer for TV. He's credited as a creator/writer/executive producer of "According to Jim". Which makes him even more evil than being the servant of a vampire.

He could have been the next Crispin Glover (which btw they both starred in "At Close Range"). In 85 he was also in an episode of the new Twilight Zone and Amazing Stories. He turned down Fright Night 2 which is odd, considering it's not like he made it big or anything. He may have been afraid of being typecast. I think as popular as horror movies were at that time he could have stayed in the genre. It's a travesty, mostly because after doing all that porn it's really hard to go legit again.

 Amanda did become the more famous (although mcdowell was famous long before this movie came out). I still can't see her in any kind of sexual way in this movie, it's somehow wrong as i still imagine her character Marcie in married with children burned into my brain. It's like watching your mom get busy or something. She was an odd choice. I never could quite figure out why at that club her hair was all flat and curly and as soon as she starts dancing with the vampire it's the puffyiest big sprayed hair i've ever seen in my life. Then it's flat again. Then when she's a vampire it's suddenly long.

We just don't have enough vampire movies - we need more! Someone needs to come along and re-invent the vampire genre. Because seriously - I am not a fan of Blade.

I knew a girl in high school who's favorite show was Herman's Head. She was Latvian, so I always wondered if that show exeplified Latvian humor.

I kind of liked it too, but it seemed weird to preffer it to all other humorous TV programs. The actors who played Sensitivity and Intellect show up in quite a few other things.

I might also add that Amanda Bearse has admitted to being a lesbian.

Vampire films seems to run in cycles. Before the late 1980's, or around the time of "Fright Night," there was also a shortage of vampire films. Then in 1988 we got the somewhat similiar in style "Lair of the White Worm," which is reviewed at this site. That would be followed by the more classical style vampire films like "Bram Stoker's Dracula," "Interview with a Vampire," etc.  

Now, there is not so much a shortage of vampire films, as their style has changed to the "Blade"/"Underworld" style of vampire film.

Actually, I wish vampire films would get back to the modern day style of "Fright Night"/"Lair of the White Worm" or the classic style of "Bram Stoker's Dracula"/"Interview with a Vampire," as I really don't care much for the "Blade"/"Underworld" style of vampire film.

The best source on "Whatever Happened to . . ."  whoever you can think of in the horror/fantasy world is the website for and magazine of "Scarlet Street".  For example:  They tracked down and interviewed everyone -- and I do mean everyone -- still living that was connected with ALL of the "Creature From the Black Lagoon" movies.  Damn.  Now that's dedication . . .

Of course, we cannot forget "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" whose tv spinoff has also contributed to the 'Blade' style, I think.

I liked "Bram Stoker's Dracula" .... went to see it with on Halloween when it first came out with a friend who was really into vampires at the time.

But I did like "Fright Night" better.  It's was more the classical, creepy story without all the glitzy special effects.  And it did not Keanu Reeves.
