Title: RIP Angela Lansbury.
Post by: Alex on October 11, 2022, 02:54:11 PM
The actress passed at the age of 96. While perhaps most famous for her long-running role as an undetected serial killer in Murder She Wrote who continually managed to get other people arrested for her crimes, she also appeared in many films including Disney's Bedknobs & Broomsticks.

There aren’t too many celebrities I have very strong feelings about but Angela Lansbury is probably at the top.  I’ve always loved her.  I re-watch Murder She Wrote often, sometimes just to fall asleep to.  Jessica Fletcher is, to me, the epitome of what a role model should be.  She’s the perfect mixture of polite, concerned, kind, wise, strong, feminine AND nosey.   I just love that she takes the shame out of being nosey.  Sometimes when I have a difficult decision to make, I go to the old WWJD – What Would Jessica Do.  I’m nosey.  It’s OK. WWJD.

She’s had a great long life.  I’m glad she shared some of it with us through her stage-acting and movies. One of my favorites is “The Company of Wolves” (1984) which is not only a super weird horror movie, but really visually lovely.

She will definitely be missed.  If I wouldn't get kicked out of her funeral, I'd try to go.

RIP, Dame Angela.

I will never forget her as Lawrence Harvey's domineering mother in The Manchurian Candidate.

R.I.P. ma'am.

My late father watched "Murder She Wrote" religiously. He didn't find it funny when I pointed out that everywhere that woman went, somebody died, and asked him "Please don't ever invite her over for dinner." :D

He thought it was even less funny when I suggested that a great plot twist in the series finale would be for Mrs. Fletcher to announce "It was ME the entire time! That's right. I KILLED THEM! ALL OF THEM! WOOOOOHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
