Title: National Lampoons Loaded Weapon 1
Post by: chainsaw midget on January 20, 2020, 11:53:47 PM
I don't think this movie gets near the respect it deserves as a comedy classic.  It's got all the rapid fare pace and energy of Airplane or Naked Gun with some wonderful comedic performances by Emilio Estevez, Samuel L. Jackson before he was a big name, and Jon Lovitz with William Shatner and Tim Curry as the bad guys ("Wiillderness Girls").

It's just a wonderful parody of the Lethal Weapon movies and cop movies in general.

You all have seen it right?  What do you think?

Nice weather? You think we're having... nice weather? I guess you didn't lose the only one that meant anything in your life. I guess you don't feel burned out by the human misery and despair perpetrated by the criminal vermin that infest every pore of this decaying city, forcing you to guzzle cheap wine and cheaper whiskey to dull the pain that shatters your heart, rips at your soul, and keeps your days forever gray. What flavor Icee you got today?

Great film: very underappreciated.

Emilio Estevez: "What's wrong?"
Samuel L Jackson: "Nothin'. Taking a s**t."  :buggedout:

I loved this flick-- sure, it gets rather weak at times and can't sustain great humor as well as NAKED GUN.  But I still crack up at the dinner scene with the dog and the son playing footsie with Estevez.  And the convenience store bit is terrific.  I was falling over when I saw this in the theater.  So wacky!

Also William Shatner as "General Mortars"  :buggedout: and an uncredited cameo from a very p**sed off John McClane.  :bouncegiggle:

Underrated comedy classic.  Watched it for the first time in like 15 years on Netflix recently.
