Title: Criterion's Sisters DVD
Post by: Guitarwolf on August 09, 2001, 12:18:54 AM
Why isn't the trailer on the Sisters dvd by Criterion?  I know the trailer exists, because I saw it a few months ago. I think it was on AMC, but I don't recall. I saw it around April.
Criterion was the king of Laser Discs, but so far I am not too impressed with their dvds. The Robocop dvd had the original mono sound without any remixing. And the picture was not enhanced. It looks like a bootleg video to me. At least it's the uncut version. But Sister is one of my favorite horror films, and it doesn't have commentary with De Palma or a trailer or even t.v. spots.
So far, I would have to say that Anchor Bay is doing a much better job with dvd than Criterion. In fact, Anchor Bay is turning out to be the best dvd makers on the market. I can't wait for their Suspira LE dvd next month. 3 whole discs!
So far, the only Criterion dvd's that have been worth their price tag are This is Spinal Tap(now out of print) and Carnival of Souls.
By the way, what happend to the hour of deleated scenes for Chasing Amy that were on the laser disc? This is unforgiveable.

Anchor Bay has been doing a fantastic job; I'll agree with you there.  Criterion has been hit and miss it seems.  The DVDs of Fiend Without a Face and The Blob were both great though.
