Title: Planet of the Vampires
Post by: Conrad on May 19, 2003, 11:01:37 AM
I was sat ironing, drinking and watching this splendid piece of camp Italian sci-fi, when a couple of scenes caught my eye.

"What ho!" I said to myself (due to the drink), "But a couple of those scenes look very - John Carpenter-ish".  The surviving captain of one ship is recording his thoughts on the crew's  isolation upon the desolate planet - very similar to the scene in "The Thing" when MCready is recording his anxieties.  He is disturbed by *someone* dashing past the doorway - again similar to Fuchs getting spooked by *something* dashing past his doorway in the lab in "The Thing".

In another scene a body, a very dead body, laid out on the ship's medical table, begins to stir - it's hand twitches and begins to rise, menacing the lone person left there.  Very similar to the scene in "The Thing" where the supposedly dead Thing under a blanket stirs while Windows and Bennings clear out the room.  Also similar to the body laid out in a morgue coming to life in "The Fog".

Just thought you might like to know.

Yes. I purchased the PLANET OF THE VAMPIRES DVD a few months ago, and I thought it looked familiar . . .
