Title: ZOMBIE 4: AFTER DEATH (1989)
Post by: RCMerchant on December 19, 2020, 11:18:01 AM
This non sequel to ZOMBIE (1979) starts with a prolouge featuring a young girl who's parents are doctors looking for a cure for cancer are killed  by demon like zombies summoned by a p**sed of voodoo priest.
About 20 years later, she hires a team of mercenaries (including gay porn star Jeff Stryker and Don "the Dragon" Wilson) to return to the 'Island of the Dead'.
The Zombies are pretty cool. Fast moving and looking like a cross between Lamberto Bava's DEMONS and the Blind Dead .The plot is simple and the acting is bad. The gore is good.
And the cheezy heavy metal soundtrack at the start is bacon. And it's so full of action, you don't care how stupid it all is. I enjoyed it!

I enjoyed this one. Of the other non-Zombie sequels though Zombie 3 takes the cake for me. I usually try to watch as many movies for the first time as I can. So it’s rare for me to go back and watch a movie shortly after seeing it. With Zombie 3 I had to make an exception!

Going from memory I still remember some of my favorite lines.

Guy to some of his buddies: This music is making me horny!

Scientists talking to each other: Maybe if we rub these two atoms together...

Our would be hero: This time we’re gonna fight...and we’re gonna win! *cheezy 80’s freeze frame*

Zombie 3 and 4 are both total crap, but I enjoy them.  I actually bought them as bootlegs on VHS before they were available in the US.  I have the DVD set with Zombie 3, 4, and 5 now.  My only minor complaint is that the zombies are a little too life like and they talk, and (if I remember right) shoot guns, too.

Zombie 5: The Killing Birds is totally mind-numbingly boring garbage from what I remember, though.  I was drinking when I tried watching it, and don't even remember if I made it through the whole thing before shutting it off.
