yeah so i saw Troll 2 last night and after the movie, i'm thinking that the movie gives out the wrong meaning to little kids to NOT EAT FRUITS/VEGETABLES! something wrong here?

IMO the worst one is Twilight.. Aside from being just a huge steaming pile of crap it sends the message to young girls that if he isn't stalking you, isn't obsessing over you, he doesn't really love you. Stalking is cool! yeah... who knew   :lookingup:

In The Descent, we learn that if your friend accidentally kills another friend, it's okay to turn around and kill them too.

More like, if your best friend was nailing your husband, it's ok to maim her and leave her to be eaten by monsters.

THANK YOU!!!!  I say this all the time, but because I "don't have kids," I "have no idea what I'm talking about."  I couldn't finish the novel and will not mourn the fact I will avoid the movie.

I always think of The Bridges of Madison County. Adultery is so romantic. Oh that poor woman, stuck with a stable, devoted husband when she really wants to run off with the adventurous stranger she jumped into the sack with rather quickly. And his pain that this woman he just met won't run off with him while her faithful but dull husband is on a trip with their kids. How could you not sympathise with these people?

In Pretty Woman,we learn that prostitution leads to a fairy tale ending.When"s the last time you saw a hooker that looks like Julia Roberts?

So did British film director Ken Russell, which is why he made "Whore."

As an aside, I think people in general are programmed to assume that works have an intention relevant to their subject matter, and this is a worthwhile assumption, but what is to stop a Neo-Nazi skinhead making a movie that has the message of equality and multicultural harmony?

I don't know what that means in practice, because if you see a movie that seems to say that, for example, homeless people should be mass-culled, then the movie obviously has a bad message just standing for itself, but I do find it interesting the way a movie's sympathies appear undeniably to be the directors. Some more subtle examples of "bad messages" may be considered from the wrong angle.

A movie can give a message regardless of whether anyone intends it or anyone takes it seriously. Pretty Woman is a great example of this. The makers of the movie didn't think about it, and neither did the people who loved it. Their take: "What a great modern fairytale!"

It's the people like us, who look a little bit more closely, think about what's happening and apply some reason who figure out what the movie is actually saying. Our take: "Wait a minute. This is completely out to lunch."

Plenty of movies portray cops as either psychos or corrupt criminals. 

I know I mentioned this on another thread (I think the first sequel one), but the film The Birth of a Nation.  It's a silent film that promotes racism.  Here's a still:
