Title: How Often Do You Talk To Yourself? Post by: Mr. DS on April 23, 2011, 08:59:43 PM Throughout life I find that I talk to myself to an excess. Sometimes I think out loud so I'm actually having a conversation with myself. I do this in front of everyone and the most common question I hear is "who are you talking to" at home, work and just about anywhere I go. Its a habit that I simply can't stop. I don't feel it makes me crazy. Matter of fact I feel much more sane whenever I do it. I know I'm not the only one who does so.

It helps to give a voice to them and make them a bit more real, when I work in my mind alone I tend to miss something or forget something. Plus it counterbalances my sometimes bat s**t crazy ideas like "go ahead and wait an extra week on that bill" which can turn into a month.

Little did that help though.

If I did that I'd be complaining constantly and nobody would talk to me!
If I want to talk to myself out in public, I usually get out my mobile phone and pretend I'm talking to another person on the other end. If I'm playing golf (badly) and I'm out of earshot of everyone else, I'll sometimes spend several minutes telling myself how much I suck. Or if I'm playing a video game I'll explain to the people who made it how idiotic their design decisions were - in detail - even though they're not around to benefit from my advice.
