Title: Recording industry says illegal to transfer music from CD onto computer....
Post by: CheezeFlixz on January 01, 2008, 10:25:52 AM
Yes, now the music industry now says it's illegal to buy a CD and convert it to mp3 on your computer for personal use. So if you own a CD and you've converted it to mp3 ... you are a criminal, an outlaw, a villain and you must be stopped. The recording industry is out of control and they are the ones that need to be stopped.

Gee, they never had that position back in the 1980s when I would copy my LPs to cassette tapes (for my own use).

F! the RIAA!!

Those dipsticks can SAY all they want.  The courts have ruled quite differently on this particular matter.

Their scare tactics are quite transparent.  It's sad, but almost funny in a way, to witness the death of an entire industry.

The best thing they can do is realize that music dissemination is rapidly changing; the CUSTOMER wants things a certain way, so they'd do themselves a HUGE favor by tailoring their industry (ie, profit mechanism) to that.

But no, cling to the system designed 60 years ago with archaic technology (by modern standards).  History has shown that to ALWAYS be a good business model.   :lookingup:  {/sarcasm}

This sums up my feelings on this issue.  With this story it has gone past the realm of ridiculous.  Its really too bad that I enjoy music so much because I'd love to see a boycott on the recording industry.  Technology, as Ulthar pointed out, has changed.   To bad these folks haven't.
