Title: This can't be serious
Post by: diamondwaspvenom on March 23, 2010, 06:44:35 PM
Just when you thought christian extremists couldn't get any worse.

http://christiansagainstcartoons.com/ (http://christiansagainstcartoons.com/)

As a Christian with a brain, these claims and accusations are really getting on my nerves.
Read the articles and you'll know why.

I think it is serious... the sheer number of years between posts leads me to think its a nutjob who posts when he sees something disturbing.  A prankster would  be more consistent.

I'm going to guess it's a very close to the vest satire.  I mean, "Bro. Cletus"?  As in "Cletus, the Slack-Jawed Yokel"?  Wouldn't a Christian pick a Biblical handle instead of a jokey name like Cletus?

And the Photoshopping shows a definite sense of humor:

Here's a site that I suspect is real, but have my doubts about:

http://www.godhatesgoths.com/index.html

I could definitely understand a guy setting up a site to attack Goths, but why does he take so many shots at "retards?"  Seems suspicious, although I admit people could definitely be that twisted...

That's not photoshopped, that actually happened!

Hmm...  Seems to me to have an air of Landover Baptist Church (http://www.landoverbaptist.org/).  A fake site, making fun of the too-far-to-the-right-wing-Christians. :teddyr:

so, does that mean if you kill someone, that other person would do the same?

It's a quote from the New Testament.  It means that those who had faith in Jesus (specifically the apostles who Jesus is addressing) would follow his example.  It also hints he's about to die (go to the Father).

If Jesus had been killing people, then yes, that quote would mean that his followers who believed in him would also kill people.  But I don't know where you pulled that quote from so I can't suggest an explanation in context.

I'll second that. Also if these guys are serious:http://www.dolphinheartworld.com/ (http://www.dolphinheartworld.com/), then anybody can be serious.

Oh, I see it now.  I guess it just means they think they think Jesus would be spending his time attacking Dora the Explorer if he were alive today, and Bro. Cletus is doing it for him since he's with the Father.

The quote is from the Gospel of John (Ch. 16, I think) and it is taken WAY out of context.  These guys are morons, BTW.  That does not necessarily mean they are Christian morons.  Unless the whole thing is a goofy satire, in which case I find it fairly amusing.

Reminds me of that old PETRA song, "Witch Hunt."

John 14:12 (it says on their page).  Didn't think you would approve of this, Indy.  In fact, if it's serious you should probably be more outraged than anyone.

Not to throw fuel on the fire, but this is from the site I linked:

"GOD ALSO DETESTS RETARDS. DOWN SYNDROME, CEREBAL PALSY, THALIDOMIDES, DWARFISM, SPINA BIFIDA, AND OTHER CREATURES SPASTIC RETARDATIONS ARE REPULSIVE TO GOD. THE BIBLE STATES QUITE CLEARLY THAT THESE TWISTED LIMBLESS MONSTERS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED ANYWHERE NEAR A CHURCH, AS THEY ARE UNCLEAN AND REPULSIVE TO GOD. THEY ARE AN ABOMINATION. THEY HAVE MINDS OF SUCH A REPROBATE NATURE THAT THEY ARE GIVEN TO SEXUALLY GRATIFYING THEMSELVES IN PUBLIC, AND ARE NOTHING MORE THAN SLOBBERING STAMMERING ANIMALS. WHY SHOULD THEY GET THE BEST CARE? GET GRANTS TO BUILD RAMPS FOR THEM? WHEELCHAIRS? PREFERENTIAL TREATMENT? IF GOD DID NOT INTEND THEM TO WALK, LET THEM CRAWL LIKE THE SNAKES THEY ARE." (Based on Leviticus 21:18-24, taken way out of context.).
