Title: Catfish (2010)
Post by: claws on February 16, 2011, 02:26:22 AM
Word has been spreading at message boards like wildfire ever since Catfish hit DVD/Blu-ray not too long ago, and its shaping up to become this years "Triangle" in terms of, well, message board hype. So here you have it, the must-see movie of the year:

Myself am waiting for the hype to simmer down, then I will check it out eventually.

***SPOILERS***

It's a trick, and much less than what I was expecting.

I actually avoided any news about this, and checked it out from Netflix. I was very disappointed.

The secret is not very interesting. There's a bit of human element, but who really cares? A pathological liar tricks some boring dude. The fact that she used social networking does not make it more interesting.

I think it was one of two documentaries I saw recently that used a central trick to deceive the audience into thinking it was more than it was. The other was Exit Through the Gift Shop, which purported to be one thing, but ended up just being sour grapes.

Don't get me wrong, both films are decent films, but they're nothing special.

When I saw the title, I thought it was about a ravenous fish that eats people instead of the other way around.

There you go, Trev.  At 50 feet long I figure he could eat people.

Wow indeed. All I would need for that are a few thousand potatoes and a nice little 100 feet long Weber barbecue.  :teddyr: :teddyr:

:teddyr:  OK then! Come to Canada and it's on: a nice big fish fry.  Everybody's invited.
