Sandra, a physician's secretary, interferes with a drug dealing gang of criminals and soon enough she's in deep trouble. To her rescue comes Danny, a Boxing Champion, and both start a tender romance shortly after. Things get complicated when Andreas, owner of a Karate school, takes Sandra on a harmless date. Furious Danny challenges Andreas to a fight but before they can exchange blows they must rescue Sandra and Andreas' actual girlfriend Lisa (who arrived halfway through the movie flying a Cessna) from the clutches of drug criminals.

Macho Man is a strictly local/regional German low budget B-Actionflick lacking international flair but still oozing with typical unintentional hilarious cheese. This isn't Ed Wood bad however, but most of the hilarity lies in the dialogue, dumb masculinity, the casting of fugly locals, dated fashion, the 'rofl' of it all and most importantly in its location. Filmed in winter of 1984 in the town of Nuremberg which is the second biggest town in Bavaria after Munich. Nuremberg might be rich on history and world famous for their ginger bread kind of Christmas sweets, but as a location for a bad Action film it comes off surreal. This is something people of Nuremberg picked up on quickly when Macho Man hit theaters back in 1985. Word of mouth spread quickly and over the years Macho Man became a bad movie cult classic, resulting in a yearly screening (15 years in a row) at a theater in Nuremberg attended by fans and the cast. Meet the actors:

Danny (Macho Man) played by René Weller. He was a real German Boxing Champion nicknamed "The Beautiful René" because of his well groomed mullet and choice fancy clothes. This was his first attempt at acting.

Sandra played by Bea Fiedler. Bea (former Playboy Playmate 1977, German Edition) was the only real actor in the movie. She had a solid run in low brow soft sex comedies throughout the 80s (she appeared in several 'Lemon Popsicle' sequels which were huge hits in Europe). Sad story: she's been living on welfare since her career fizzled in the 90s. She occasionally goes shopping at a grocery store where my sister works at.

Andreas played by Peter Althof. Local celebrity Bodyguard and owner of several fitness/martial arts studios. He's still in business though he got in trouble with the law several times over the years.

Tony Dawson Harrison as the Breakdancer. Tony was a former American Soldier stationed in Germany. He had his own dance studio specialized in street dance / hip-hop dancing, and scored a few hits in Europe as "Captain Hollywood" in the early 1990s.

Macho Man was never released to the U.S. and I doubt that an English dubbed version exists. There is a VHS rip on YouTube though.

Gru: "They never found the body. All they ever found, was a pile of singed chest hair."
