Title: THE PYRAMID (2014)
Post by: indianasmith on May 08, 2015, 06:33:54 AM
I had never heard of this movie; it just showed up on the rental shelf at Hastings this week and I decided to take it for a spin.
What a great horror film!

A team of archeologists, working in the Egyptian hinterland at the height of the "Arab spring," have discovered a completely unknown, three sided pyramid buried in the sands of the desert.  Using satellite technology, the find that a tunnel has been dug to the entrance and try to uncover its entrance.

Even as the Egyptian army is ordering them to leave, they send a robot down into the mysterious ruin, only to have it knocked offline.  With time running out, five of them descend into the tunnel to recover their robot and see what is lurking below.  Soon they realize that not everything in this ancient pyramid is quite dead . . .

Great atmospheric horror; I rented it with low expectations and found it was so much more than just another mummy movie!
Without giving away any spoilers, it reminded me of our old buddy Anubis von Mojo . . .
