Movies like "Half Baked" & "Dazed & Confused" inspired me to go smoke some weed!

I don't really get into that much any more though.
I've kinda phased out of it.

The film that really pushed me into films and made me want to be a filmmaker would have to be Raimi's Evil Dead.  The sheer brutality of it and the fantastic shots that Raimi was able to get amazed me.  Really got me started with films.

If I had to list my inspirations I'd have to say most of the work of Raimi (except for ED2), American History X, Goodfellas, American Beauty, True Romance, etc.

the Deer Hunter has always inspired my spirit. it is a true, un-flenching look at human pain, suffering, will, and brotherhood. i think i cry evertime i watch it and i have "Cavatina," the theme song, on my computer. there are tons of others also but that was the 1st that came to my mind.

Mark of the Astro-Zombies and Sgt. Kabukiman NYPD has done that for me.

It's a Wonderful Life. George Bailey is just the ultimate community-minded guy. I love the message that although George missed out on all his grand dreams and felt like a failure, he achieved more than anyone else, simply by being a good man who never turned his back on anyone.

Probably the most inspirational movie I've seen in a long time is Tim Burton's Ed Wood.  I thought it was really powerful, that Ed had such hope and love and passion for his projects through all the crap he had to face.  Then I read his biography and it depressed the hell out of me, but one way or another, when I watch Plan 9 now I don't laugh.  I see it as Ed saw it, a masterpiece and his fond farewell to Bela.
But don't think that means I won't have a handful of paper plates at B-Fest just like everyone else.

hmmm...insipration....

I honestly have to say, I get very emotional (and this is before the recent passing of my sister) watching movies that deal with family, or movies based on true stories about those who beat overwhelming odds.

Among them are: Field of Dreams, The Shawshank Redemption, Awakenings, Men of Honor, In the Name of the Father, Hoosiers, and Rudy, just to name a few.
