Title: Holy Bad Ripoff Batman! - Fat Actress
Post by: Mr_Vindictive on March 08, 2005, 08:11:03 AM
My wife and I decided to catch Kirstie Alley's new show on Showtime last night and I must say I'm highly disappointed.  I knew from second one of the show that we were in for a bad Curb Your Enthusiasm ripoff.  I couldn't have been more right.

The directing they used for the film is the exact same as Curb Your Enthusiasm, as is the classical music that plays over each scene.  It was almost sickening how much they stole from the show.

The show revolves (orbits...) around Kirstie Alley.  Everyone except for her knows she is at the end of her career and that nobody will hire her due to her excessive weight.  That's it.  A one joke show.

There are a few things that happen in the episode, but none of them are in any way funny.  John Travolta gives Kirstie the number of someone who lost 300 pounds.  Wanna know what the advice she gives Kirstie is?  Eat cigarettes to burn you stomach lining.

Oh and then there is a subplot with Kirstie going to "the ghetto" so that she can find a black guy to have sex with her being as "all" black guys like......round ladies.

And then Kirstie goes to NBC to try to get her own TV show which just leads to more fat jokes.

I hated the show.  Loathed might be a better word for it.  They took everything from Curb Your Enthusiasm except for one thing.  THE HUMOR.  Argh, I hope to never watch this show again.

On a side note, my wife loved it..........

Oh boy. The same Kirstie Alley who was all hurt that the tabloids were picking on her for getting fat, is now cashing in by willingly turning herself into a fat joke. Nice.

You know, large women never bothered me as long as they look good and have a decent personality. She's just butt-ugly  inside and out. ***Shudder***

Am I the only person who was completely unaware that Kirsie Alley had gotten fat until she turned it into her gimmick?

At least this thread shows that I'm not the only one who doesn't care either way.

Does she ever say you have bad taste in movies? That'd be funny if she did.

Kirstie Alley reminds of that chick from the "Parkers". They make a big deal about being fat, embracing being hefty, but to me they are the ones that make the big deal, no one cares if your fat. Also their not funny.

I have no problem with larger people.  That's fine.  I'm not exactly skinny myself.  It's just that Kirstie Alley is so obnoxious and full of herself that she wears my nerves quite thin.

And Dave, yes my wife thinks I have terrible taste in film.  And she hates Curb Your Enthusiasm........
