Title: Jeffrey Combs
Post by: Scotty Xtreme on January 09, 2002, 11:38:08 PM
Okay, i have a question or two here.  I know this is the guy that played the creepy FBI agent in the Frighteners.  I seen him on the front of the box of a movie called Bride of the Reamnimator, which I know is a sequel to a movie called the Reanimator.  Either of these two films worth checking out.  The video store I rent from had Bride, but not the first.  Should I check this one out or pass?
Another question:  I seen the episode of the new Star Trek series, ENTERPRISE, called the Andorian Incident.  The other day while watching the Frighteners, two of my friends told me that Jeffrey Combs was one of the Andorians in that episode.  One of them also said he played in some Deep Space 9 episodes also.  Is this true, or are they thinking of some other guy?

Oh, you definitely must watch Re-Animator. It's a cult horror ultra-classic. It's gorey, funny and very, very strange. It's based on a story by H.P. Lovecraft, one of the horror genre's best. Every b-movie or horror fan should see this one. If you're still not convinced: There is a scene involving a decapitated head performing cunnilingus.

Jeffrey Combs is incredibly entertaining.  He has been the protagonist (or antagonist) in so many cheap horror movies.  It is surprising that so many of these movies are incredibly good.  It's even more surprising that the lesser of these films are entertaining because Jeffrey Combs was in them.

Combs is just reliable.  When he's good, he's amazing.  When he's bad, he's still pretty damn good.

Stick around the cheap horror movie scene and Jeffrey Combs is going to show up again and again.  And every time you are going to get a good, entertaining performance.

As an aside, who are the other actors who are always relied to give a good performance in b-movies?  I know you've got the king and queen, Bruce Campbell and Linnea Quigley, but who are other actors you see in the cheap movies who are always good?

It's true.  He's appeared in Deep Space Nine and Enterprise.

Yeah, that was Combs in Enterprise and he played Weyun(SP?) on DS9 - a cloned lacky to the Founders.

Several cloned lackeys, actually.  (Plus a recurring Ferengi role.  In fact, in one episode he was both.)

Is Re-Animator WORTH CHECKING OUT!?!?!?!  Is it worth it to keep pulling oxygen into your lungs!?  Is sex good?  Does watching MTV turn your brain into tapioca pudding?  Go out and rent both of them NOW!!!!
