Just viewed THE RAVEN starring Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff. Its based on Edgar Allen Poe and it has a bunch of torture devices. The film is very well done for a 30's film. Equal to DRACULA with Lugosi in my opinion. If you like the older films and have never seen this one then you won't be dissappointed. Lugosi's dialogue is alittle thick, but it is classic Lugosi material. Very good film, I liked it very much.

Lugosi was horrendous in a bad way in THE GHOST OF FRANKENSTEIN playing Igor, but in THE RAVEN he is at his best.

Because Lugosi did so many bad bad movies (Death by Television -- I own this, God help me . . .), folk find it easy to forget just how menacing he could really be.
To catch Lugosi in a straight comic role -- oh, yes, he could do real comedy too -- check out RKO's "International House", with W.C. Fields, Burns & Allen, Cab Calloway(Playing Reefer Man!!!), & a host of other stars of the day (1933?).  This is one crazy film.

I've been dying for "The Black Cat" to come out on DVD ever since I realized that my VHS tape disappeared (moving often is hell on that).  A great film to watch Lugosi and Karloff together.

I've never seen BLACK CAT eithier, but I did see DEVIL BAT starring Lugosi. He uses perfume and giant bats in this movie.

Ah yes, put some here, on the soft part of your neck...

I must say, do not try to create your own enormous devil bat.  Put 220 through a bat and all you'll get is a terrible smell.

Be sure to watch "The Black Cat" and "The Raven" back to back. They make a great double feature. Just one question about "The Black Cat." John Carradine is suppose to be in it. Has anybody seen him in it? As many times as I have seen "The Black Cat," I have never seen him in it.
