Title: Mortuary (2005)
Post by: trekgeezer on March 26, 2006, 06:15:54 PM
A single mother (Denise Crosby) recently graduated from Mortician school moves with her children to small town to take over a long abandonned in mortuary which the locals think is haunted. This is one of those in home mortuaries.

When they get there the place is a horrible dump with a leaking septic tank right next to the cemetary. There is a local legend about the deformed son of the last in the line of the family who had owned the place is still living there even it though was presumed he had died  many years before.

Tobe Hooper gets credit for directing this SciFi original. There is not a lot of gore and not much mystery since you can see the plot points coming a mile ahead of time. There are some zombies and the "creature" responsible for them. The movie has a lot of bad acting and  I couldn't quite put my finger on where they filmed it. There were palm trees, so I am inclined to think somewhere like South Africa.

Anyway, it was pretty run of the mill SciFi channel stuff and I found it mildly entertaining. It wasn't as bad as some of their stuff.

Next week, it's Corin Nemec in SS Doomtrooper. Man, this one is going to be cheeeessssyyy, from the previews the CGI looks straight out of Castle Wolfenstein.  Some Americans must stop a Nazi super soldier.

I rented it on VHS and took the tape out because I was expecting a haunted house movie.

I mean, EVERYTHING led to a haunted house movie, but it dissapointed me.
