In 1966 an aircraft crash caused the explosion of the conventional part of two hydrogen bombs, contaminating part of Spain. Now, radioactive snails have been found. Tell me this is not perfect fodder for a b-movie. Especially when an official says, "We don't know what's down there." Giant Ants, Giant Grasshoppers, etc. etc. etc. But the only Giant Snail I can recall in a movie is in the Rex Harrison "Dr. Dolittle", which I think was Disney -- We NEED a Giant Snail movie!! * * * Invoking the "Dr. Dolittle" film makes me reflect on the fact that none of the great childrens' books have really been given life onscreen. If you actually read Hugh Lofting (Dr. D.), or Milne, or Henry Travers (Mary Poppins), you find worlds that are far funnier and scarier than what has made its sanitized way to film. I would love to see a REAL "Mary Poppins" film, with Mary being the nasty sort of supernatural elemental spirit she is in the books -- Julie Andrews she ain't, folks . . . I don't care how old you are, pick one up and really read it -- These books were meant to be read aloud to English children & needed to keep the adult reader entertained as well. REVENGE OF THE ESCARGOT: Payback is slow and chewy! I forget, do snails drown in beer like slugs? If they do, we have the deus ex machina to save the day in the end and a built in product placement opportunity. There was a large snail puppet on the 80s kids show "Pinwheel". Tim Holt and the US Navy have to fight off giant sea mollusks (sure they looked more like caterpillars, but what the heck).

"Mollusk", by definition, requires a shell or exoskeletal structure of a sort -- This is a big, scary, worm-lookin. thang . . . peter who?/denny what? I remember one being crushed in the gates of a lock during the movie.
