Title: Zorro (1975)
Post by: Scott on November 06, 2006, 11:54:05 PM
ZORRO (1975) (http://imdb.com/title/tt0072448/) - This is an Italian Zorro film with a catchy little song that goes something like "Here's to being free la la la la la.......now that Zorro is back". The song might be the best part of this film. Other than that this one is like a comedic Spaghetti Western only instead of pistols you have lots of swashbuckling sword play, but it's not as polished has our favorite films of the genre. It's worth a look if you can find it at the dollar store.

The sets for the final swordfight are great. I think mentioned in another thread , that I thought this was a film with promise that just didn't manage the execution as well as I hoped. Kind of a shame really.

But that stupid tune would have been an annoying earworm if I didn't have a sure fire method for beating them.

Yea, I was trying to put my finger on it, but the film just didn't work. The music, sets, and costumes where decent enough, but I was thinking they didn't tell the story very well like where does he comes from, the injustice in the land, and that rescue was just two simple to be interesting, but then again I don't usually need something to elaborate to keep my interest, so it must be the story or that the film was meant purely as a comedy. If this is the case then it wasn't that funny. The attempt at comedy may have ruined this film and what little story it had going.
