Title: Body Melt
Post by: vidman00@aol.com on February 25, 1999, 01:14:54 AM
I gotta tell ya - I was impressed w/ Body Melt! I thought the production quality was very good and the acting was adequate. The special effects were fairly top notch, though there could have been more gore!. And, by golly...I thought that inbred Amazon woman was pretty hot! Either I`m easy to please or I`ve got to get out more!

This movie was full of people related to Jeff Foxworthy, more rednecks than in my town. I need this movie!

I read the review of Body Melt right here at Bad Movies, so I rushed out to find a copy.  Being in the UK (and having to put up with deleted films left right and centre)I located one and spent quite a lot of dosh on it.  Nevertheles, I put it on, surrounded by a few mates, telling them it's supposed to be really gory ... and ...?
WHAT A PILE OF s**t!  I couldn't believe my eyes - NOTHING happens for the first 80 mins, and just as it starts picking up - it ends!  Oh my God!  Okay, I'll let you off - the effects were s**te, so was the acting, and Harold Bishop from NEIGHBOURS says 'f**k!'.  Worth seeing ONLY for that.  However, you do only look at bad movies, and by my standards Body melt was Bad bad BADDDD!

Ah, yes. Nobody makes crap horror movies like Australians (anyone seen Houseboat Horror?). Probably the most frightening part of this film is that most of the cast should have known better. A number of them either are themselves, have since become, or are related to fairly well respected actors. Surprisingly, Lisa McCune (Mrs Rand) has this film on her bio to this day, despite the fact that she has some REALLY big things on there otherwise, including a couple of Gold Logies (Ooooh! Aaaah!) for an ongoing role in an Australian drama series.
I really think, though, that I could have vomited a better treatment for this film.
It's worth noting the prominence of one name in the opening credits. Screenwriter, producer, music editor.....

This was worth it for the moment when that little s**t from "Neighbours" went SPLAT on the half-pipe when skateboarding. Lost opportunity, too.I wanted to see a Daddo die horribly and nastily on screen.

I liked the movie.  Its not about horror with this movie.  This movie has a deeper purpose. It describes the effects of taking spa drugs.

This movie is perhaps thefunniest ive seen. Harold Bishop swearing was worth watching alone. The weird inbred family had me in stiches, and what was with that really big bloke and his very high pitched voice? Shear brilliant and undoubtedly ORIGINAL!!

This movie was crap.

I'm a full blooded Australian, but this movie still sux.  Nothing happened.  Thats all.

And btw, who reckons that they should make 'the weakest link : The movie'?  It would be a pretty good b movie if it's like the australian version.

We think Bodymelt is an absolute gem, if only for the scene where Harold gets stroppy and starts shooting at the car. Absolute quality!

The first time I saw Body Melt, we brought it to a friend's house when he was recovering from an "accident", you know, as a "let's cheer our buddy up" sort of deal. I have to say this was the absolute best idea anyone could have had! Full recovery! Everything about Body Melt is breathtaking!! I'm a huge fan of palcenta and that scene just blew my mind...I don't think I'll ever be the same again, but in a good way! Thank you Body Melt.

"I'm glad I watched this movie stoned, otherwise I would have broken it in half and deficated on it."

Best parts were that fag slipping on his snot and bashing his head and the doctor screaming "DAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMNNN!!" and then driving off at 90mph for absolutely no reason at all.

I finally got this in the mail from Ebay & wow! What a fun, demented movie.

Its up there with Peter Jackson's DEAD ALIVE as being a gross-out & funny Horror movie.

I loved the techno music in this too. That Body Melt song in the end credits had me dancing like crazy! I must try to find that song!

Nice gory movie. Its worth checking out, if you can find it.  :)

Classic low budget horror this one, up there with Jackson's Bad Taste & Brain Dead from accross the sea.

Harold Bishop swearing and waving a gun around is worth the price alone. (£3.99 from Play!!!)

Its amazing that until now i had completely forgot about this film. As soon as i'd read the review i instantly tracked down a copy. 5 minutes into it and i could remmember it straight away. What an absolute classic this film is! It never takes itself seriously thus making the low budget easier to stomach. If you like your films gory as hell and fun to watch this needs to be at the top of your list! Get it now!

I'm not a fan of human gore. I only like alien gore. I would never watch this movie ever.

Pretty good bad movie, not as good as Peter Jackson's earlier stuff. Not a classic or must see but worth a rental, they've got it a netflix.

I did like the guy's jogging outfit.

I saw this movie many moons ago as a small child, my parents owned a small shop in a small town that rented videos. This was one that was gotten from a distributor or something. I've never read much about it until now and our copy was lost sometime ago when the store was sold and the videos auctioned off. As far as bad movies go you can do a lot worse than Body Melt. Now if I can only find the other film I remember seeing. There was an old house or castle or something and some guy or family had this big thing come out of their mouth and I swear he tried to impregnate someone with it. But I can't be for sure.

Heheh, I like the photo on the right side of the upper row - the guy with the opened chest.

I never knew that people had entrails all the way up to their necks in their body. Even where ribs should show this guy has a digestive tract...

I remember how excited I was when I saw an uncut reissue of this movie. I've roamed this site since its infancy, so I felt like I had found the Hope Diamond on the DVD shelf. Unfortunately, by the time I finally saw it I had become a stickler for things like plot holes big enough to fly an airbus through. Oh, and I agree that porn music is NOT appropriate for a scene with a guy sneezing himself to death in the sink.

Hi everyone,
I played the role of Beauville's voice in BODY MELT. I'm the high pitched voice of the steriod Mr. Universe Character Beauville. "I've stored the Noble's urine samples...um, can me and Beau, have some more v's"..... and "those V2's they're p**s weak!"...."Just what the Doctor ordered!"..... That's not my normal voice, I was directed to speak high to show the effects of too much performance inhancing drugs! :-)
Thanks to everyone who made an effort and watched the movie and a special thank you for everyone here who commented on the film! good or bad
The movie has actually won several awards, (imdb.com) despite not doing well at the box office or on dvd-video release. I saw it at the premiere in StKilda, Melbourne, Australia in 93 or 94 I think from memory and it was met with thunderous laughter, I never saw or heard of it again after that. Thanks to Curt who said he thought the Mr. Universe character with the high pitched voice was pretty cool and original-cheers! It was hard to get the mouth-lip syncing right but other than that, a lot of fun. Thanks to the people who really hated the movie also! I have been in another Australian Movie called Horseplay which has been hailed as even a worse movie than Bodymelt! lasting just 2 weeks at the cinema-box office before going to DVD. I thought Horseplay was really really good but there you go, you guys are the boss of that. You can read reviews about Body Melt and Horseplay and all other "bad" movies at efilmcritic.com

Once again all the best to everyone and thanks for the feedback.
DEAN MEASOR.

P.S. I was also in Neighbours and it is indeed worth watching Mr Smith swere in Body Melt if you don't get it for anything else......
