Title: Demon Wind
Post by: Demon Wind? You sure about that? on June 07, 1999, 12:42:36 PM
Not seen the film, don't really want to either.  However, just one question, is this film really about a monster with flatulence problems?

I gotcha Demon Wind right here, filmmakers. Two excellent points in the review: (1) how does junk like this and UNCLE SAM and JACK FROST wind up with a hologram box, which probably costs more than the movie did, and (2)why does Hollywood push the idea that gorgeous women always find geeks (and misshapen oafs like Homer Simpson)so irresistably attractive? Oh wait, I know the answer to that one...

Demon Wind was really an interesting film. It had stock characterization, plot, and film techniques for this particular genre. You really need to lighten up and use your imagination.  It was actually pretty scary if you think about it.

This is a perfect example of a horrible film that is rather entertaining.  Repeated viewings on cinemax from 90-94 made
my teen years interesting.  It's full of bad cliches such as
1.kicking zombie ass and saying you've beaten them before going inside for safety,2.)not listening to the old man who turns out to be satan's henchman,3.)Bringing your slave of a woman that leads to your own death,'Hey, that's why I bring her with me', 4.) expression on zombie's face when he nearly got to possess the hero's girlfriend, 5.) If you see a cabin with on wall and you peek through the front door and see and entire house inside, don't go in!!! 6.) Nintendo should sue the filmmakers for stealing their teleportation wind from Legend of Zelda and Super Mario Bros. 3.
The acting was bad, the dialogue was cheezy and the plot was hokey but it's a fun watch. Beware young yuppies, watch out
for the cream of mushroom soup!!

Rip-off of THE EVIL DEAD, people! EVIL DEAD is better than this stinky-piece-of-green-cheese flick. DEMON WIND is definatly full of wind alright. Avoid at all costs and see THE EVIL DEAD instead. Or just don't listen to me, be a dumbass, rent DEMON WIND, watch it, torture yourself silly, take it back to the video store, and discover that you have just wasted three bucks on a hopelessly bad film. And if you do that, go back to the video store, rent EVIL DEAD, watch it and get the crap scared out of you, take it back the next day and discover that EVIL DEAD was copied by DEMON WIND. But if you do listen to me, if you see DEMON WIND on the horror shelf hide it behind some other videos in the store. Trust me, you will be doing both me and everybody else a favor.

I HAD THE PLEASURE OF WORKING IN THIS FILM WAY BACK IN 1989
I PLAYED THE CHARACTER OF "DELL". (BOBBY JOHNSTON).
WHAT PEOPLE DON'T REALIZE IS THAT THE FILM WAS MADE FOR
$300,000 . FOR THE BUDGET IT WAS PRETTY ENTERTAINING.

This movie was the dumbest thing I have ever seen. I feel 5% dumber having watched it. I suggest that everyone write the maker and tell him to throw himself off of a cliff.

This was the most pointless, mindnumbing movie I've ever seen. I've never felt so drained after watching a movie. At this time I feel like running out in front of a large car...better yet, maybe a semi. The only good thing abuot the whole movie was watching it with my guy, who thank the lord, is not a victim of the movies mullet craze. PLease, if you have any integrity for yourself, call your local movie store and request it be taken off the shelves today...and as robert said, WRITE A NOTE TO THE PRODUCER..tell him he should lay off the dosia.

I too made a mistake of renting this movie about ten years ago at my local supermarket. I think the cover put me in a trance just the way the covers of Uncle Sam and Jack Frost did two years ago. I think thats how they make us buy or rented this never shouldn't been made movies. It stinks for the begining to the end and somebody tell me why they have to killed off the hottest girl in the film the one in the black hair. She was the one with her boyfriend last couple to come and they killed her off in that stupic barn.

This has got to be one of my favourite horror movies, one of the most underrated too. This movie scared the living s**t out of me as a kid, and that was pretty hard to do, considering I watched pretty much every other horror movie. What made this movie good was the plot, and the scenes. Sure, the acting was horrid, the sound was crap, the special effects were worse than Ghostbusters almost 6 years after it, but this film had a cool storyline. I almost died when I saw the Satan skeleton hanging in the barn.... as a kid I would be afraid when I was sent to my room, because I always thought if I turned around it would be there. Anyways, cool film, dont rate it too hard. This would make a good remake.

This movie kicked ass!I don't know what scared me more, the Demons monsters or the 80's style clothing, big hair and makeup. If you didnt like it chances are your from the nitendo generation and you never had to develop any kind of a real imagination. I wish that movies were still made as scary as this one.im

Ok, so it's kind of an odd merging of 'The Evil Dead' and 'Night of the Living Dead', but this is one of the more entertaining late-eighties, low-budget horror films around.  Did it really cost only around $300,000?  If so, it looks pretty good for that amount of money.  I liked the air of forboding in the first half (helped immensely by the ominous music), and there were a few interesting touches, such as the egg that cracks open to reveal a writhing mass of maggots.

The girl on the windy plain pointing the stick at the van is also a striking image that has stayed with me.  Of course she isn't exactly human and the stick is an occult means to gain knowledge which she immediately imparts to the corrupt forces in the earth (implied by her pointing the end of the stick down at the rotted cow's skull with the worms on top).  I would have liked to have seen more of her.

I wasn't as thrilled with the second half of the movie, which became more or less a standard zombie flick.  And, yes, Corey did look like a bald elf!  Nevertheless this was still an enjoyable movie.  I liked it enough to buy the video.

I have seen Demon Wind three times now, and i can honestly say that i have never had more fun watching such a mind numbingly crappy movie since "the children of the evil dead" (no relation to sam raimi's brilliant evil dead movies). THis movie was so bad it was good! Rent it today!

Demon Wind rocks. It is terribly good. It has been one of favorite "bad" movies for years. One of my favorite lines that I quote on a daily basis is, "Black blood on the walls!"

Lmao, I saw Bobby Johnston in a soft core porno on Cinemax.

I Think this movie is the most scarest movie i have ever seen.  the dirctor did a very very good job by making this movie.  Demon Wind is scaryer then the exciorst. All you other people who put down this move you do not know what scary movies are about. the demons in this movie are very very ugly and the devil's son is the most scaryest  and the most uglyest of them all.
I have nightmares about this movie.  If this movie was bast on a true story and I whent throw all of that stuff it would be my worst fear ever.  No horror movie comes close to how scary demon wind is I think so and my brother and sister think so.  This movie is scarer then night of the demoms.

I grew up watching this movie...I'd probably seen it over a million times by the time I was 10. My old copy got lost somewhere and I rented it the other day and found that it scared me more now than it did back then. I still love this movie. It rules. And The Evil Dead is right up there with it in my book.I still don't understand why everyone thinks that this movie is so bad...Sure the acting was pretty bad..the effects were cheesy...and the plot kinda sucked, but isnt that what the great 80/90's movies were made of? So i end in saying this... BETTA RECKONIZE!!!!

I can't believe it.
This movie is on the Horror Channel in UK right now, and my gawd is it cheesy :-)
It's unbelievably trashy, which is why we are watching it.  It's so bad it deserves to be special :-)

Despite my harsh review of Demon Wind, I have a soft spot for it in my heart.  I mean it doesn't try to be something that it's not.  It's a cheesy movie that's highly watchable.  There are a lot worse movies out there and believe me I have seen them.  I hope this movie comes out on D.V.D. some day.

Thanx,
Joseph Ulibas

P.S.
How in the hell did my review get upon this site?  Besides that point I like the feedback format.

Cheers!

I love this movie. I own a copy of this movie. This is so much more entertaining than crap I've seen in theaters.

Sure, most characters are really dumb, but come on, it is a low budget flick.

Plus the chicks are hot.

"I SAW THEM...I SAW!...BLOOD EVERYWHERE! BLACK BLOOD ON THE WALLS!...figures in the dark...LAUGHING! COMING AT ME!...SO I SCREAMED! AND I RAN...and i never told a soul...well until now"

"what is this? just say no week?"

"you'll all scream in hell tonight! all of you! HA!"

"A princess should always have flowers"

Ah i love this movie, it used to scare me back in the day, especially their voices but man did they have bad hair.

What is up with the alien spell.  I gathered that it was some superpowerful thing, but he was still just a puss.

Was he a wizard, or an alien or a conehead????

Demon Wind is a cheesy horror film , it's fun , entertaining and very atmospheric .  It's actually one of my favorite movies in the B horror movie genre . First being The Evil Dead . They really created a creepy atmosphere . It is not as bad as people say , at all .  I don't understand why people talk about it the way they do . I own the DVD and i think that if your a hardcore horror fan and enjoy stuff like cheesy 80's & early 90's horror films you will appreciate this movie .

ok ok ok, this movie is cheesy, is a low budget movie and u can think it's the worst film ever...then you watch the remake of Prom night!!
Another movies, with more budget and with stars in their credits stinks more than demon wind. At least the movie make you smile about something you watch on it and say "Oh my gosh, can u believe it?" Could we have the sound of the demon when he say "Am I not pretty?" That's the highlight of the movie. Smile people, remeber The Joker: Why so serious?

I guess this is one of my guilty pleasures, since it appears that 99% of reviewers can't stand it.  I was totally freaked my pointy-stick girl, the cow skull in the barn was.. something, and how can you not love helicopter kicking off a demon's head?  Oh, well.  Bad news is my VHS copy finally crapped out, the good news is.... ah, none.  I would love a DVD with some of the cast and/or director commentary trying to explain this complete mess of a movie!  "Here I was trying to play off the evil of Stalinisty politics against Reagonomics in an Escher motif."  Or, "Who knows, I was cracked out and smoking pig dung that day".  I would accept either explanation.

Besides the bad acting and special effects, this is really one of the only horror movies the used to scare me when I was a kid. As another user wrote, I used to be sent to my room, and I was afraid when I would look up at my walls I'd see a cow's skull there, ready to attack me.

It still holds a special place in my heart. Yes, it is very much B-quality, but the plot is actually quite interesting. It would be nice to see this re-done someday.

I got this on VHS.  I personally like the movie.  Seen it at least 10 times.  Maybe I am sick in the head.  It is dumb, but that is why I like it.  I do have a few issues with it though.  What was the point of the scary redhead girl pointing the stick at the Jeep when our heroes were on the way to the farm.  My other issue is, what the #$&! did Corey become when he cast the spell.  I think that the spell made him more of a wimp than he already was.  That was ridiculous.  I also thought that it was funny that Corey and his lovely lady waste the daggers on the underlings.  In one part of the film Corey's dead friends were very afraid of the dagger.  They could have used this to keep the demons out of the house.  Oh, well.  This is a keeper for me.

John
