Title: Return of the Living Dead
Post by: Andrew on October 12, 1999, 11:27:10 PM
Updated review!  Despite the film's ghoulish plot, you will laugh because the story is also clever and diabolically unfair to the characters who are faced with an army of brain-eating zombies that, sooner or later, will get them.

This is perhaps one of my all time favorite horror movies.  I haven't watched it in a while and seeing this review made me watch it again.  It is sooooo awesome!  A truly great zombie movie (I love Zombie movies!)  Thanks for the memories...

This is without a doubt the scariest movie of all time,in my view!  I talked to Alan Trautman (Tarman) a while ago and he was suprised to see he had fans from this movie.  He is a great guy and played the Tarman role well the only flaw was that they made Tarman  little to smart, you know the chain bit and trying to get Freddys girlfriend.  No way could a zombie be that smart, but also that scary he looks like he had chickengravey all over his face yum yummy!  And they made his teeth very white and if you look at his eyes they have the glaze look to them,  Tarman without a doubt in my mind is the scariest zombie of all time only few come close to him!

BEST horror movie of all time! We all know why it was; the real question is why wasn't the style and atmosphere of this film continued, instead of those laughable sequels that had the potential to become *real* bad movies?!
> Good news/bad news on the DVD issue-apparently several entities own a piece of this film, so in order to obtain the rights, a certain studio would have to shell out big bucks to own it. However, once this studio digs deep, they most certainly will want a maximum  return on thier investment$. This means that they would be willing to put together an elite widescreen presentation of the film(uncut of course), with all sorts of audio/video extras to appeal to the collector/fans. If you are a videofile horror phan, be resourceful and start screaming for MORE BRAINS(!) wherever you feel would help.

Well, someone has to call this movie "not good", and guess who that is? I really donīt mean that this movie gives me headache(hehe... someONE else can give me that instead) but I dont see the logic behind the film. Why the hell must it end up with EVERYBODY DEAD(trade mark), and worse, WHY DO THEY HAVE ZOMBIES THERE? When you see films like the Dead movies, you know that the victims will be from feet to head eaten. Now why do these "zombies" just eat the brains in this movie. And: WHEN DID ZOMBIES LEARN HOW TO RUN? Nah, I canīt say that I really love this suckass b-movie but itīs funny now and then, so Iīll give it one and a half slime dripps... radioactive and stinky ones.

Love this movie! One of my all-time favorites.

Here's a fun bit of trivia. The punky tune Linnea strips to, "Tonight, We Make Love (Until we Die)," is performed by a group called SSQ. SSQ is an earlier incarnation of Stacey Q, the bubbly, upbeat, cute, blond, 80s dance pop singer best known for 1986's "2 of Hearts."

I saw on VH-1 that she's some kind of Buddhist guru these days.

Interesting career path.

There is no other movie like this. (well, that goes without saying, I guess.)   I can remember going around for weeks after seeing telling everyone "I'll bus 'em in da damn head!" (Spider rules, for a silly 80's jerry-curled punk-boy.)  For those that have a copy, if you listen closely when Burt crashes the car into the dumpster (with two zombies on the hood), right as Casey and Chuck run to the window, you can hear one of the zombies scream, "Oh, sh*t!"  I used to have a copy myself, on a Beta video tape, and actaully managed to wear the tape out before Beta VCRs were discontinued. I am a total fan of this movie.  Part 2 sucked ass, though.  #3 was decent (read: lots of bloody gore and stuff), but it didn't capture the same spirit.

This movie really takes me back to the cheesy 80's, when I was a little punk rocker myself!  I always wondered if Tina is really a punk rocker or does she just hang out with them?  Also, does the Tarman's head really hit Cassie's leg when Burt knocks it off with a baseball bat, or does it just appear to?  I have watched this movie over and over and I never get tired of it.

I LOVE THIS MOVIE. I have gone thru about 4 copies over the years. Just to be picky, Spider is a "rude boy", Tina and Cassie and Chuck are "mods" and Suicide and Scuz and Trash are punks.  Freddie on the other hand i am not sure. He has that mid early 80's metal look about him but i do not quite know. I guess i just grew up with this was happing and whe i look back i see myself and my friends. We should all push for the DVD of this film even if it means we have to back it.

RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD- quite possibly the definitive horror-comedy film. I have a funny story behind this one- i was in a mall when I was seven or so. Both my mother and I loved this movie, and we walked into the video store to buy a copy. But it wasn't there. We asked the clerk if we could find one anywhere else, and she said that it would be almost impossible. I left, disenchanted. After wandering through the mall for a little while longer, i walked into Camelot music, and right there on theirmovie shelves were ten gorgeous copies of Return of the Living Dead, at the low price of just $9.99. I am 14 now, and I still have that movie. And I still love that goddamn movie!

I know why Ernie the mortician had that pistol. In case someone turns out not to be dead and gets up and trys to leave.Ernie would just gun them down and start preparing the body.I mean, its not that far fetched is it?He's a mortician...AND HE PACKS HEAT!What kind of wierd ass crap is that?Other than that wierd aspect, a rather enjoyable little bit of art, suitable for the elderly and toddlers alike, I say.

Okay, first thing... just to clear up confusion... I remember a "Fangoria" interview with James Karen (Frank) from the time, and he said Lianna Q. (Trash) was never actually naked below the waist.  She was wearing something.

Now, I adore, love and worship this film!  There is not a wrong scene, line or moment in it!  Everything is either hysterical or actually creepy... sometimes both at the same time!  Imagine Romers's zombies... except intelligent, fast and hip!

The acting is also far better than you'd expect.  The director rehearsed the film like a play and let the actors have input on what happened to their characters.  Frank, for instance, was supposed to run amuck in typical zombie fashion, but actor James K. came up with the crematorium ending.  I think any director like that is very cool asnd it certainly worked for this film.  At times the acting is corny, but it is always in character.

One story I recall from mags at the time... if you don't know it, it is a goodie... (but I don't know how many minutes into the film it is, sorry)

Okay... Tina (preppy dweeeb... Freddie's gf) has gone looking for him at the med supply warehouse and finds Tarman in the basement instead.  The actress was supposed to run up the stairs and crash through the trick step... which was the forth one.  (I know, it was the third one... hold on...)

No matter how many times they rehearsed it, she was afraid of falling and wouldn't come down hard enough to break the trick step.  The director told her it was okay, and they would skip the stunt.  He sent everyone to lunch... and THEN had the carpenters rig the third step without telling anyone.

When Tina hits that step and falls through... her scream is absolutely real!  The actress had no idea it was going to happen!

I love that story.

Anyway, if you haven't seen this film you absolutely must!  It is the best time!  The soundtrack (which I believe is OOP, unfortunately) is terrific, and I defy any horror fan to sit still when "Party Time" begins to play!

Oops... I forgot to say... one critique...

The red haired corpse puppet was fantastic looking, granted, but it is quite impossible to say "the pain of being dead" without lips.

Try it.

Ok, I realize it is just a movie, but I have to make this minor point.  How come Trash becomes a zombie after being eaten by the graveyard corpses, but Suicide stays dead after being eaten by the Tarman?  I would think that the chemical Trioxin 245 would be more potent coming from the slimy man himself.  Think about it, Frank and Freddy got zombiefied and they only got squirted in the face by the gas from the tank.

Post by: Jay Lind on November 25, 2006, 04:09:49 PM
I know Linnea very well and we've talked about Trash. According to her she was wearing a tiny piece of flesh colored cheese cloth that was glued to her pubic bone and just below her anus. If that clears anything up. She is, however, completely naked in NIGHT OF THE DEMONS among other great B- movies.

Title: Return of the Living Dead
Post by: on October 18, 2002, 10:13:27 AM
Ummmm... The whole thing about it being true, a part of it is. No not the zombies, but the chemical. There Was a chemical used in the army to spray on certain things. They accidently spilled it all on a corps. It didnt turn in to a zombie, however kind of flinched and jumped up for about 3 seconds, then turned stiff again. Hell Im only 13 and i know the reason this happend was because corpses (even though they are dead) some things can make their nerves to start moving again. Just a little bit of information for sttarr00@hotmail.com . Nothing to be alarmed about. By the way great movie.

Funny the mortician (Ernie Kaltenbrunner) was the first person Burt thought of to cremate the cadaver.  His name was ripped right off World War II history: Ernst Kaltenbrunner, leader of the SS and ultimately responsible for the operation of the camp creamatories... Hmmm...

I liked the movie. I agree that "Mushy"(of course, it's real name is "The Tarman")is the best zombie in the entire movie. I like the theme music, too. If you love zombie movies then you must see this for yourself. I didn't like the other two sequels, though. The second was just silly and the third was more romance than horror. This film is funny in some parts. Like the part when Burt and Frank try to kill the first human zombie(the first zombie was a dog sliced in half)they see. They say this after hitting it's head with a pickax:

Burt: I thought you said that if we destroyed the brain, it would die.
Frank: It worked in the movie!
Burt: Well it ain't working now, Frank.
Frank: You mean the movie lied?

I won't spoil the ending for you(even though, the other movie review did)because I don't think good movies should be spoiled. Now get up, go to a video store and rent Return of The Living Dead!! NOW!!!!

Out of all my fave movies from the class of '85: Labyrinth, The Goonies.. only one tops all of the them - The Return of the Living Dead! Where else can you find average acting, dodgy make-up, a cool punk soundtrack and the only movie to have brain eating corpses!!!  The movie is unbeleivably funny and without a doubt it has to have the best striptease sequence in any movie of it's genre.  Often classed as a B-movie, ROTLD never fails to impress... I have been a serious addict since it was available for rental in the start of '86.  And every week I make another person into a fan of the movie (Trilogy, sorry)... Something is lurking six feet under... and it's on DVD!

This movie is easily on my list of favorites of all times. Actually to one of the above posters that questioned "Since when do zombies run?" That was one of the best parts of movie
IMHO. Here you have these cops and paramedics unaware of the doom they're facing and then this squad of zombies come out of nowhere and BUMRUSH them (yelling "BRAINS!" all the way). That's some funny stuff. It's impossible to hate this film.

favorite quote:
"Send...... more...... cops."

This movie wask great.  For one, the soundtrack was pretty tight.  That beginning tune that plays when the gas is escaping is great.  I loved how the zombies could run and were able to kick some major ass.  The two sequels were pretty much garbage (especially part 2), but this one is a classic.

Hey, has anyone played Resident Evil 3: Nemesis?  I swear, they take a lot of stuff from this movie for the game.  The scene in the movie where the zombies rush the cops is used, as well as the ending for the movie.  There's probably more.

Memorable scenes:
When the one gang member goes "I'm gonna bust him in the head" or something like that, referring to the zombie.

When they knock mushy's block off.

I do love this movie, but I think the hysterical screaming from Freddy and Frank starts to grate on the nerves after a bit.

But 'Tarman' is one of the greatest cinema zombies EVER. I love the rolling way he walks, and the make-up is a great one.

Oh god this is the best 80's movie ever Linnea IS THE BEST SCREAM QUEEN! I liked when she stripped in the graveyard and was naked through the whole movie and she is really hot. I recommend Night of the Demons she is in that too. And she gets naked and you see everything!!!! And you get to see her shove a lipstick in her nipple it's also a good movie

I agree with all those who loved this movie. I cannot recall a boring moment or a bad scene in this movie and I have just purchased a DVD copy on ebay. You can't knock great entertainment and it is that from beginning to end. My favorite charactor was Frank and I will never forget Linnea's world class body.

Just finished watching the flick, and when it ended, I was disappointed.  Not because I hated the movie...but because I thought it was over too quickly.  So, I hit the timer button on my VCR, and I realized that I had watched a whole 1 hour 30 minute movie, despite the suspicious feeling that I popped it in a half-hour ago.  I was just too into it to have a good sense of time, I guess.  Anyway, I liked return part 2 decent enough (not decent enough to BUY it, though,) but dispised part 3 with a passion.

Now this is one of the greatest horror films of the eighties. Not a bad movie but really quite good for what it was.It managed to combine scares with humour and pulled it off. Most horror movies that have a comic element lose any scare potential but this one does not.It has this atmosphere that reminds me of being a kid and scared by this movie and of old punk and goth music and Halloween and all the good things in the world. And yes Ernie is indeed a Nazi. The woman on the wall is Eva Braun and the music he is listening to on his headphones at the beginning is "When the Panzers go Rolling In..I forget the name of the composer he is also named after Ernie Kaltcheburner one of Hitlers close friends and an important SS.officer.

I saw this movie in the theater when it came out and I could not stop laughing for a week. I just kept thinking about all the creative minds sitting around dreaming this one up. RJ(producer),Billy(the lacky) and Doloris(Accountant)

RJ-"Ok guys we need a real zombie goul movie. It's got to be over the top. I mean a real screemer"

Billy-"Gee wiz RJ. How about a frenzied pop-eyed zombie running around trying to sate its appetite for fresh brains"

RJ-"WOW Billy!!! Thats pure genious! Perfect!"

Doloris-"And definitely low budget. I like it."

I've just had the pleasure of viewing this for the first time, and I am now officially a Linnea Quigley fan. One of my favorite lines was when Fred called to his girlfriend, "I know you're here Sarah, cause I can smell your braaain..."

BTW, I dialed the 800 number posted on the toxic barrel (1-800-454-8000), and got some adult phone sex line called "Pilgrim Telephone."

This one is up there with the "Dead" movies (Night, Dawn, etc.), all three Evil Deads and Cemetery Man (Returners?  Zombies!  Just say it!) as my favorite Zombie flicks.  I bought this DVD sight unseen and was not disappointed!  Great from beginning to end with superb campy acting and dialogue.  Today's films just can't compeat with this...  Clu Gulager just cracks me up the way he delivers this dialogue!  And the melting man is something I still tell people about.

Weird thing is that I saw this series backwards:  Return III (which I loved-how did she walk with all the metal hanging off of her?), Return II (which I liked..especially the talking head of that black chic-damn that was funny) and Return I (a classic with everything in spades!).  Great series.  Do you think we can get them to make Return IV, Evil Dead IV...Nope!  But you can bet Resident Evil 3 will be made.  Although I like those okay too...but...Evil Dead would be something special with Raimi and Campbell back together!

I was just a kid the first zillion times I watched this movie.  I loved it then and I love it still.  When its DVD release date FINALLY came, I rushed out to the nearest store to snag my copy because let's face it:  This movie is a cult classic!!  Who WOULDN'T be speeding out to get it?  I just today learned of Mark Venturini's death.  I was in shock.  I can't say he was my favorite character in the movie because all the main characters (with the exception of Casey; she just annoys me) are equally talented in their given roles.
"What do you think?  You think this is a f**king costume?  This is a way of life!!  What's wrong with you man?  Show some f**king respect for the dead, will ya?!"

This film was always special for me, it was my first film that featured Linnea, my all time favorite scream queen. And not to brag a super nice, sweet lady, that is also a bit of a film buff herself. I had the pleasure of meeting her over a year ago, she still looks good. I held her as we took a picture together, one of my few adolescent dreams that actually came true.

CORRECTION:  In an earlier comment I mentioned the actor Clu Gulager.  I meant James Karen.  He's the one who delivers cheesy dialogue like none other!  He's also in Poltergeist.  The guy who moved the head stones but not the bodies; great casting or what?  "That's a gooooood question Burt!"

(I WILL ALWAYS LOVE HER FOR THAT!!!)This movie is the best black comedy/horror movie ever made...almost side by side with the Evil Dead II. When I couldn't buy this film on VHS (i know i'm I'm old!)...I thought I would never get it...until I bid for it on Ebay...(Don't ask how much!)...now it's on DVD!!!! The 80's definitely produced the best low budget horror/comedy movies of all time, and return of the living dead is among the best of them.  From the split-dog going nuts, twitching body parts, and the theme music, you never know what to expect next.

When mushy gets his head knocked off, it's absolutely hilarious.

I would recommend this movie to anyone who appreciates a good comedy/horror movie.

ROTLD (the first one, and not the progressively worse sequels) is one of my favourite zombie flicks, and I'd dare say even one of my favourite films in general.  It's funny, without trying to be cheeky (which is where the second one went wrong); you can get some laughs, but also accept what is going on in terms of being a "straight" horror film.  It's "black humour", and it works marvelously.  While most of the zombie make ups are pretty weak, some of the "key" zombies were excellent, in particular the "tar man" zombie.  I'm sorry to hear that Mark Venturini had died, I was unaware of this until today.

Finally watched the movie. And, let me just say, it is f**kING BRILLIANT. Some of the funniest zombies ever created, exellent one-liners, and the suprisingly still cool theme song make it an absolute classic. I love this almost as much as Braindead. Almost.

I don't know how this all started but Mark did not die in a set accident. I grew up in the same town and went to highschool with Mark. His parents still own a neighborhood store called Ozzies in Melrose IL, a suburb of Chicago. In highschool he used to drive a 67 GTO and I had a 68.

Mark actually died of Luekemia and it was a shock to the entire community here. He was a great guy with a lot going for him. Too bad he was taken away so early in his life.

Mark Venturini died on February 14, 1996 of leukemia, not a set accident.  I know this because I was his ex-girlfriend, I was still a close friend when he died, and attended his funeral.  It was one of the saddest moments in my life.  I couldn't believe that this unbelievable force that was Mark could be cut down by anything.  The world grew a little darker for me and a lot of other people when he passed away.

This was my first zombie movie and will always have a special place in my heart. This movie ROCKS!!! I love how Freddy's jacket says" f**k You".

I love this movie, it was like the first horror movie I ever saw.  I remember growing up watching this and my parents laughing their asses of about the cadavor running at bert.  And I am from Kentucky so I don't like the comment about blowing it up and what took so long.  THANK YOU. lol.  That would be some freaky ass s**t if it was true. I tell ya what.

Did anyone catch Return Of The Living Dead 4: Necropolis and Return Of The Living Dead 5: Rave To The Grave on the SciFI channel last October? They changed the rules in them and the zombies died by headshots. Lot of bad reviews but I thought they were cheesy entertainment. The Tarman was in Part 5.

Also Necropolis comes out on DVD April 18.

Anyone who has seen this movie and bashed it because the story isnt realistic, or it just wouldnt happen, should take a bat and strike their own head many times.  I have heard some pretty stupid s**t said about this movie and why the f**k does it matter?  What would be more fun?  Living your everyday life of reality, or jumping into something thats simply fun all round?  I love to make zombie flicks with my friends and i can say this for a fact, you will have the most fun of your life doing it and thats all that matters.

This movie has pushed me even further to make more because when i watch it, you know there isnt any other thing like it.

The thing about a serius movie is they can be amazing but there is limits to what can happen.  Now a zombie movie... anything is possible, i mean the dead are already up. Also hats off to Mark Venturini, even though his time was short, he accomplished more than enouph. R.I.P.  Thanks for one of the coolest charicters.  (suicide)

Tina irritated the heck out of me. Why didn't she get eaten instead of Suicide? Suicide was killed off too soon. Besides that the movie was great.

I love this one, still haven't seen the original ending though. Ever notice that the end of the movie is a re-used scene from earlier? I hear that was tacked on and there's a different ending out there somewhere.

Went to a screening of this last year at the Alamo Drafthouse, half the original cast was there to sign autographs and do a Q and A before the movie, very cool.

Does anyone know who the young guy is in the last of the movie?  He looks a lot like Tom Cruise but I can't find him listed in the credits.

Can you identify him by his character's name or what he is doing (activity, spoken lines of dialog) so that we know which young man you are looking for?

Now why do these "zombies" just eat the brains in this movie?
That's actually explained by the female half-zombie on the operating table. You see, Trioxin-produced zombies are very different from their romero-derived counterparts. They can feel themselves rot, and their joints ache due to rigor mortis. They live in a constant state of pain, "the pain of being dead," in her words. There is a chemical in human brain matter that, when consumed, makes the pain go away for a period of time. Translation: Brains are zombie painkillers.
Quote
And: WHEN DID ZOMBIES LEARN HOW TO RUN?
Again, these aren't romero zombies here. Trioxin zombies retain all of their memories, intelligence, reasoning ability, and mobility. In short, they're just like us, only dead. The only reason why they're motivated to eat brains is the aforementioned painkiller effect. Otherwise, they could theoretically be functioning members of society.

I absolutely love this movie...Can't wait for "Diary of the Dead."  I got into this movie by fluke and surprised to see they nuked my hometown. Why does everyone want to blow up my home state?

I remember Mark Venturini from the wrestling team at West Leyden High School. He wrestled 167 lbs varsity and was pretty good. I remember one time at the end of a tough loss he swung his arm down in disgust and his head gear flew off and the ref thought he threw it down. Also in that 67 GTO he had, he slid on ice and crashed into my step-dad's car. Paid cash for the repair. We would go to Ozzies and get our sandwiches before the Friday away wrestling meets all the time. Had a friend that lived across from Mark's parents house back in 1989. Went over to that person's house on a brand new Harley and Mark came out and asked if he could take it for a spin. I said no because I just got it. Feel like a jerk now. Mark was a great guy and I don't know what made me think of him. Just reminiscing.

I remember seeing this movie when I was eight years old and sleeping with a night light till I was 27.  Ok, maybe just a few weeks but this movie scared me, fascinated me, and made me a zombie movie buff till this day.  Spider and Suicide were awesome.  Zombies whom ran like Carl Lewis, talkd and ate human brains...heck yeah!!!  Burt was hilarious!  Best line was either "I hit the f--king brain!!" or "Why don't you open up the door and ask him Burt?"..."Nah, I'll take your word for it."

The Tarman is the best and funkiest zombie ever with the coolest walk.  I can still hear Suicide yelling!  Also Tarman's tongue, eyes and teeth were the creepiest!  The movie made me think twice of walking through graveyards at night and I hope girls learn from Trash and keep their clothes on when it rains.

ROTLD is by far my favorite movie of all time, all genres included.I seen some other movies I absolutly love, like SHAWN OF THE DEAD, PEE WEES BIG ADVENTURE, ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW, FIGHT CLUB, A CLOCKWORK ORANGE, GOODFELLAS, NIGHT OF THE CREEPS, KUNG FU HUSTLE, and many more, but still I find myself looking for a movie to top ROTLD. If anyone has seen such a movie(taking into account my strange choice of favorites) that anywhere compares to or surpasses my love for THE RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD, please email the title.  KRBARB@GMAIL.COM

truely underappreciated actor :/  i think he would have eventually been able to play lead roles, as his acting was the only display in ROTLD that was REALLY convincing (except maybe Spider).

do any of his friends know how long he was sick for and what kind of signs he showed during the early symptoms?  id just like to know more about his illness and how it could cut down someone so big, strong, and healthy looking like that...did he smoke or have a family history of it?

the reason im so overly interested is because im 6'2 and 170 lbs...about the same size he was, and i kind of look like him...ive had alot of people tell me that we are almost identical...and that was actually the basis on which led me to see the movie.  i know that cancer doesnt quite work like that (if you look like or have similar features to someone who has cancer you could also be at risk), but i also understand that no one really knows how cancer works...which makes me kinda concerned.

ive thought about calling his parents store ozzies and briefly discussing it with them in a very modest and understanding manner...but i dont know their feelings on the subject and if they would be offended or too taken off guard to speak with me...but im from rockford illinois, about 2 hours away from where he grew up

either way, RIP and i hope someone see's this and can atleast write something.  ive always felt a special bond with this guy since i saw the movie back in about 1999

I bought this for my cousin on his 17th birthday.  He ended up watching it with my 12 year old cousin.  Probably not a smart move considering this movie.  Oh well, they both said it was good, but weird in the end.

I never watched this film before and I actually have no interest.  Zombie films don't often interest me.  Now zombie videos game are a different story...

I'd give it a try. I'm not a huge zombie fan myself but this ranks as one of the best zombie films out there. It's alot of fun, with great effects and a kick ass soundtrack.

I love this movie.  I remember watching it when I was about ten or twelve.  There is a lot of Zombies/Undead and screaming.  I thought it was funny that in the gang of punk rockers there was the clean cut girl and her clean cut boyfriend.  The gang must had a quota to fill.   :bouncegiggle:

I have seen the other other Return of the Living Dead movies and this one is the cream of the crop.  I will purchase this one as well as the other hopefully soon.

Keep on watch bad movie fans.

Later,

John

I love this movie. No fooling, I love this movie. Whenever anybody asks me to put together a list of my favorite movies, Return of the Living Dead will always find its way onto that list. I put it up there with films like Seven Samurai, RotLD is just such a perfect movie.

Look, if you don't love the moment the protagonists jam a pick-axe through the brain of the recently dead, well, I don't think you're somebody worth talking to.

Did I mention I love this movie?

One of my favorite movies of all time.  Terrific performances, tons of memorable (and quotable) lines, a super hot & young Linnea Quigley getting all kinds of naked, Tar Man (More brains!) and a midget zombie. What more could anyone ask for?

That is indeed Clu Gulager, who also appears in the killer kitty film Uninvited (http://www.badmovies.org/movies/uninvited/) as well as Feast. (http://www.badmovies.org/movies/feast/)  Here he plays Burt, the owner of Uneeda Medical Supply.  He consistently makes decisions that are plausible and even seem like good ideas, but they always turn out to be the wrong decision.  Cut off the head?  Nope.  Burn the body?  Really bad idea.  Call the Army number on the side of the drum?  That obviously didn't work out...

Zombie balut?  I just stumbled across this review and if not for the presence of two Filipinas in my household, I'd have no idea what that was.

Truthfully, I would be happy not knowing what regular balut was, but the 'zombie' tag just clinched the deal.

Pancit and lumpia for me from now on.  Keep the zombie balut.

its awesome to see this movie getting the praise it deserves! I watched this movie when i was really young prolly 6 (my dads band (the jet black berries) is in the soundtrack whos song comes on the boombox as they walk into the cemetary...funny story in itself because the bands major song at the time was "they walk among you" which was not chosen for the film....BUMMER! Either way a truely creepy movie that made me scard to death as a little boy...and made me make a zombie survival plan...i love a lot of zombie movies but this one is special and kicks the s**t out of the others. (specially the one with the little kids in the subburbs)  cheers!

I heard about the Return of the Living Dead before I knew Mark. And when I checked out the movies he appeared in, I was surprised he appeared in ROTLD. He played a sexy punk Suicide. I was upset that he died. I really wish he lived longer.  :bluesad:

And by the way, where do I reach this person Sue from #48? Said she was Mark's ex.
