Title: Dolemite
Post by: Warren H. on November 29, 1999, 12:02:50 PM
I saw the crappy, edited version of this.  Almost all sex and graphic violence is removed.  Seek out the unedited version for your full dose of Rudy Ray Moore.

Watching it with friends we all went into shock during the sex scene where they suddenly switch to "Ho Cam" so you too can live the experience of having sex with Dolemite.

I never felt so sorry for a camera operator.

This movie sucks!  DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT view this movie at all under threat of extreme pain!!  The Dolemite Cam when he was having sex with that ho was the worst for me..  I had nightmares about that!!!  If you see Dolemite in the video store or on TV, run not walk away!  You won't be sorry.  Trust me.....

Dolemite was one of the funniest things I've ever seen. If you liked Dolemite, you MUST check out Dolemite II: The Human Tornado. More crooked cops, pointless sex scenes, kung fu hookers, wild pimp outfits, and bad dialogue than the first.

They've even got a web site www.dolemite.com

Thank you for finally putting a BAD movie on here! To quote RUN DMC: "Not bad meaning bad but bad meaning GOOD"! Rudy's films may not have the best production value, but they sure as hell are fun to watch. Say what you will about the man, but there's nobody like him. I highly recommend SUPER SOUL BROTHER if you like movies like DOLEMITE. It doesn't have Rudy in it, but it's got the same spirit and was made around the same time.

Much propz and mad love to my bro Russell (rest in peace), who turned me on to this movie many years ago.  I literally cried my contacts out from laughing so hard the first time I saw it.  The "Ho Cam" scene alone will have you on the floor (at least it did for me).  And God bless him, Rudy Ray Moore is still doing stand-up--and still dressing like a pimp!

Dolemite kicks but. He's really stylish and he's got no shortage of babes.Dolemite deserves that after being what I thought was some unfair prison time.

Dolemite is about the funniest movie I've ever seen in my life. Although his martial arts technique may need refining, Dolemite's verbal lashings are classic. I fell on the floor laughing. I'm a no-business, born insecure, rat soup eating, jackass and I love it! Thank you Dolemite.

I HAD to see Dolemite after seeing the take-offs on MadTV, I'm so glad i rented it, I've never actually fallen off of a chair laughing until today. I couldnt help myself when Dolemite "kicks" the "FBI" guys partner, he actually throws  his leg about a foot above the guys head, a THUMP sound effect is added and he flies back... all i have to say is " WHAT THE s**t IS THIS?" haha THANX

A monument to tacky, amateurish filmmaking at its absolute nadir, DOLEMITE is the hands-down funniest film Iīve seen in years. Itīs breathtakingly awful, and a fun-filled viewing experience precisely because of it! The acting is jaw-droppingly bad... The average high school play is an Olivier stage triumph compared to the non-performances here. Action? I personally took part in better-choreographed "martial arts sequences" when my childhood friends & I used to play "kung fu warriors" in the back yard. And the clothes!!!... Dolemite is a man of unique style to be sure. It all just adds to the fun.
If you donīt mind cursing (thereīs a lot of it here), DOLEMITE provides sure-fire laughs of the knee-slapping "I canīt believe I just heard/saw that!" variety. The bold, audacious Rudy Ray Moore has an undeniable screen presence... despite the fact he canīt act. And if you just donīt like blaxploitation pix, well... youīre just a "rat soup eatinī m----- f-----!"

DOLEMITE is the king of Blaxploitation films. I agree with shemp44@hotmail.com's assessment of Rudy Ray's films. I would pay money to see more of this hilarious garbage...and isn't making money the goal. Rudy Ray is probably laying up in his crib right now, drinking some malt liquor and nailing some ho...laughing his muthah-f**kin ass off, you honkeys!

this movie is amazing!  the part where he rips the guys heart out with his bare hand!!!   that was awesome!!!!  i love the editing and the fighting...  notice in dolemite II they speed up all of the fighting scenes.  it's intense.

Dolemite is the true Mack Daddy! A real Pimp! He is the one that started it all. As he has said before, "I was through with it before y'all even knew what to do with it." Dolemite and Dolemite II has enough funny one liners, you will not run out for years. Just the horrible plots and production will keep you in stitches. The stuff he says and does is unreal. I do think you have to be familiar with "Black Culture" to truly understand and appreciate this film and character. BUT BY ALL MEANS... DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND RENT THIS FOR A GOOD LAUGH. "I aint lyin'!" - Dolemite

P.S.
"It's like the bath tub said to the toilet... I get just as much ass as you get, but I don't have to put up with all of that s**t" - Dolemite

Hmmm...RUdy Ray Moore is a real jackass. Cool movie though. Your rat soup eatin' honkey motherf**ker!!! I give it 3.5/5. The sequel The Human Tornado is even better.

I've been quoting this movie for weeks now, and I can't get the "Dolemite" theme or that song "Time on the Side" out of my head, you rat soup-eating, jock-jawed, mutha f@$#%s!  By all means, if you are on this site, and love bad (and bad-ass) movies, you've got to get "Dolemite!"

Dolemite isn't a good movie. Dolemite is the biggest waste of time. The fights blow, his one-liners are HORRIBLE. There is no action until the last 10 minutes of the movie. Dolemite ain't s**t. Shaft is good, but Dolemite has 0% action, 0% comedy & 100% boredom. You will feel like an a***ole for buying or renting this piece of s**t.

Dolemite is probably the weakest of Rudy Ray Moore's four feature films (but still a masterpiece, in a wierd way). I must recommend "The Avenging Disco Godfather" above all for its portrayal of what it's like to be on PCP (Wack), and "Petey Wheatstraw, the Devil's Son-in-Law" has without doubt the most well-developed plot of any RRM movie. FYI I own a copy of "Dolemite II, the Human Tornado" and I do NOT recommend it as a date movie, ever. Unless she really like Malt Liquor, in which case all bets are off.

Best enjoyed with a 40 of St. Ides. Or two.

My friends and I found out about this movie through this site, and decided to check it out. After just one showing, we were hooked. Rudy Ray Moore is the greatest pimp daddy of them all. Forget Willie Greene..DOLEMITE is the baddest muthafu**a the world has ever seen! We now walk around campus randomly shouting out lines from the movies. This movie is, without a doubt, one of the greatest B-movies of all time. And if you don't agree with me, then they gonna have to remove these hush puppies out yo muthafu**in a$$!!

"Dolemite" is one of my all time favorite movies and gets my vote for best blaxploitation movie ever made!Rudy Ray Moore has an electrifying screen presence and the in-your-face street level atmosphere keeps you glued from start to finish.Anyone that doesn't like this film has no grasp on the real Black experience during the 70's,which were heady times for everyone. This film is an excellent rebuttal to the castrated, politically correct times we live in.Dolemite is the ultimate Ghetto hero.No offense to Shaft,Superfly or Black Caesar, but this movie is as lowdown and funky as it gets!Truly an underrated classic. The sequel,"The Human Tornado", is almost as good and is a must-see,as well.

First of all, this site is excellent! And just when I thought I've seen every bad movie ever made, I discover that I somehow missed DOLEMITE!!! This movie is the "Stairway To Heaven" of bad movies. I laughed until tears rolled down my face during several scenes. Things I learned:

-It's easy to post bail for triple homicide and heroin possesion.

-If boiling water doesn't do the trick, then just apply direct flame.

If you only saw the boom mike once, you weren't paying much attention. This is the first movie ever where the boom mike asked for third billing, and SAG actually granted the challenge.

This movie was so good it made me cry. Thanks for the great
review, it was the review that made me buy this movie and
watch it three times without having a dull moment. BTW,
I also made many of my friends and guests watch it. Those
with taste and class remained my friends, and it was good
riddance for those who didn't have the brains to appreciate
it. I also ended up buying "The Human Tornado" and "Disco Godfather". THD definitely surpasses the high standards set
by Dolemite, and in my not-so-humble opinion represents
the creme-de-la-creme of the 70s culture. The only unfortunate part is that after the movie, your life can only go downhill.

Finally, proof of another dimension to this universe: The Rudy Ray Moore Continuum, where you require a black belt in karate to be a prostitutes in L.A., street jive is preferred over a drivers license for I.D. and hamburger pimps are roving our streets to get their next meals (without fries, though) The HUMAN TORNADOE is equally great as well.

Nearly 20 years ago, my college friends and I thought we were "retro" by screening various blaxploitation films just for the fun of it.  At the time, some of the films were only 10-15 years old and many of our parents were young enough to have seen them in the cinema when they were released.  Out of them all, "Dolemite" hit us like a ton of really funny bricks.  Yes, the visible boom mics and wires and the cheesy Kung Fu and the wild conventions (Queen Bee's Kung Fu hookers) were funny in and of themselves.  But for the fellas -- we just kept looking at ol' Rudy and saying "This?  This guy is the Super Mack?  This scraggly, fat, bloodshot-eyed buffoon?"  And we loved him.  And yes, in our late 30's, we still regularly quote lines from the film.  The movie is funniest if you have been drinking and take turns with the remote, permitting drunken one-liners from the audience at every possible interval.  Remember: back then people were tired of "being hassled by The Man."  Dolemite just decided to do something about it.  If you don't take yourself too seriously, Dolemite is worth an annual viewing.

This is a great way to weed out your un-hip friends, just pop in Dolemite(or The Human Tornado) and if they are with it, keep 'em. If they don't get it, are offended, or try to play "Mystery Science Theater" throughout the movie, send 'em packing. F--k what Hollywood or the mainstream critics says is a classic. Dolemite is, warts and all, a movie that does what movies are supposed to do: entertain our asses. Long live Rudy Ray Moore.

I would love to see Dolemite in Gotham City in the 1960s.  He'd take over that town in a week.  "Holy profanity, Batman!  My ears are bleeding!"

CAN the Dynamic Duo survive the odious onslaught of salacious slang??

WILL the Kung Fu Hookers defeat the bumbling henchmen of the city's master criminals??

Tune in next week to find out!  Same Bat-Time, same Bat-channel!
