Updated review for a kaiju classic!  Devo aliens are under attack by King Ghidrah; they ask Earth for permission to borrow Godzilla and Rodan in order to drive off the space monster.  Unfortunately, the aliens have other plans as well.  Can the world's most annoying sound save the Earth or will we all become the slaves of Planet X?

I agree with chris and andrew.  This is one of the better Godzilla films.  The sets and change of locations are excellent compared to many of the other godzilla films.  Plus the monster fights have some actual tension.  All that along with the "we are devo" aleins and you have a good film.  I disagree with chris complaining about this movie being on a bad movie site.

That is just the name of a web page. (why do people always b***h about this?)  This site devotes a lot of time to what many of us considure good movies. (much better than most high budget crap)  They are just called bad movies because they lack the sickening smell of lemon fresh polish that covers films like Titanic.  Of course some of the movies on this sight are truely bad but considre those movies perspective.

Paul H., I am not complaining about MONSTER ZERO being on a Bad Movies website. MONSTER ZERO does not "lack the sickening smell of lemon fresh polish that covers films like TITANIC." MONSTER ZERO is better than TITANIC. I'd rather watch a classic movie than watch a film by James Cameron who also happens to be a dumbass by saying "I'm king of the world" and "Let's prey for everyone who died on the ship" when he won the Academy Award for TITANIC. Prety pathetic! At least the men behind MONSTER ZERO were humble. But thanks for agreeing with me Paul H., and by the way Paul did you see the two reviews by Jackal and Stefan Roback. It makes you wonder if these guys were on some hypnotic drug or something because their reviews on MONSTER ZERO are terrible.    

Not the best of the Godzilla flicks, but this was a good one. Ghidorah, was always my favorite of the evil monsters. My favorite of the Godzilla films, was GODZILLA VS KING GHIDORAH(1993).

GODZILLA VS. MONSTER ZERO (1965) was a pretty good movie and since I already own a copy of the movie on video, the action scenes were rad.  To see Godzilla and Rodan beat up Ghidrah was well worth it.

The aliens got their just desserts for trying to take over the world and Ghidrah got his just desserts for messing with two of Earth's true champions - Godzilla and Rodan.

One of the better Godzilla movies and yet it lacks the monster battles at the begining of the movie that we have grown to love.

Honda's brilliant, low key direction is what elevates this movie to B-movie greatness.  A whole lotta of fun to be had here, I just wish that there had been a tad more monster in it throughout the movies running time.  Nonetheless it does feature some truly classic choice moments, namely Godzilla's victory dance and Planet X's Fearless Leader remarking "Ah yes, a happy moment" in a complete deadpan.  Not to mention Nick Adam's barking "You stinking rats, what didya do to her?!" after his girl gets vaporized.  I love the way the camera swoops into a tight close-up of the alien's smoldering eyes just before he zaps her, Honda knew how to create tension and character in what other less talented directors would have simply tossed away.  Movies like this are what bring joy to my life.

Wow, what a stinky smelly terrible wonderful movie. One of the coolest Godzilla movies. The little dance he does is worth it alone. I give it 4/5

Classic Kitsch!  I'm not an ardent Godzilla/Toho fan, but what I read earlier rings true: they just don't make'm like this anymore.  It's my favourite of this VERY specific genre.  

I don't know how many other native americans are G-fans, But I certainly AM! And I agree with you guys, I'd rather have a blast watching a FUN, CHEESY, "DON'T TAKE THINGS SO SERIOUSLY" Godzilla movie from japan, than the male-bashing 'bind and gag him'{latently homosexual] kick him in the balls crap that James [I hate my own gender] cameron and other American producers crank out! I love the old Godzilla movies in particular. There is an innocence about them. ...INNOCENCE... Something sorely LACKING in American movies, and America it's self! LONG LIVE GODZILLA!! [Goofy dance and all!]                            

I had a head ache when I saw this movie but what I remember was cool.

"Here on "Planet X", everything is named by numbers.

 This movie,heralding Ghidrah's return, only needed 2 monsters to defeat him this time. As great as'Ghidrah the 3 headed monster' was, this 'sequel-sorta' managed a total different spin and holds its own as the result of the demand by fans to see the space dragon again.
 It's too bad we didn't get to see him crossover with the Mechagodzilla era. Such a team up would have been the best tandem duo threat to monster island yet..
 BTW, perhaps there can be a review of 'KingKong Escapes'(of which i believe is an underrated release by Toho).  

Fun movie, the dance especally. I would not call this a bad movie, MAYBE a b-movie. Maybe the site should be called the "B-movie" site, because it reviews quite a few older and newer movies that were/are good, but campy.

2nd best of the old (before 1985) toho films.  only the great DESTROY ALL MONSTERS is better.   take it from someone who knows, watched, and has copies of all the GODZILLA movies.        

Gawd yes! Those Controller hand gestures are brilliant! Those simple gestures give this movie the edge for Most Strangely Compelling Godzilla Movie, with 2nd place going to the little kid making tire squealing sounds (gee-gee-gee-gee) in Godzilla's Revenge.

A good allogory about over-dependence on technology and the resulting dehumanization it can cause, centering less on the monsters and more on the human drama. Nick Adams' performance is fairly good, even though he seems to be imitating James Cagney.

Godzilla vs. Monster Zero was a great movie the special effects were great, the miniatures were great and Godzilla's safety Dance scene was funny imagine Godzilla talked while he was dancing words like "You can Dance You can Dance, Everybody lookin at your pants" (Starts laughing) Godzilla's dance scene was funny I'll never forget this great Godzilla movie.

Monster Zero is one of my all time great "G" movies back in the 60's.  The battle in outer space was so cool.  Too bad we never found out what happened to Rodan & Godzilla after the plunge to the ocean in the climax of the film.

GHIDRAH beat the crap out of GODZILLA and RODAN  that's why they didn't surface after the plunge in the ocean other then that a very fun and enjoyable movie best of all the 60's GODZILLA movies.

The ultimate sci-fi Godzilla movie. Awesome, funny 60's action.

At least this rainbow world wasn't watched over by the Owa.

Review updated.  This really is one of my favorite Godzilla films.

This is a favourite of mine too Andrew. It's pretty bizarre stuff when you stop to think about it but my all-time fave Godzilla film is that grand masterpiece (at least I view it this way even though some may give me a strange look or two for saying that) known as TERROR OF MECHAGODZILLA.

This was not my first Godzilla movie, per se, but it was the first (as it was one of the only) I had my folks rent for me...multiple times, some kind of emotional masochism as I still wasn't over the end to Godzilla 1985...20+ years later I'm still not sure if I'm ready to watch it a second time.

As a child, I just thought the 'people parts' were nothing but filler, giving little if any thought to whether they had a big or small budget, or who was president when they suited up.

And watching that dance, it's still the easiest thing to forget there's a person in there.

Yes, "Godzilla vs. Monster Zero" was just the English release title.

Ah, gotta love this film.  I actually thought the ending was fitting.  You always come away from most of the earlier Godzilla flims knowing what's going to happen, but this one surprised me a bit. 

Watching this film in either Japanese or English is odd.  It's weird to see Nick Adams's voice sync up perfectly while everyone else's is off, or vice versa.  Actually, I think the Japanese did a better job of dubbing Nick Adams.

and it was unleashed on US theaters as MONSTER ZERO, the "Godzilla vs" was just for the VHS release.  MONSTER ZERO is just about the coolest title ever.

Sequel to Ghidrah The-3 Headed Monster,this was made in 1967 but for some reason wasn't released here until 1970 under the name Monster Zero.Later released on video and DVD as Godzilla vs. Monster Zero,why Rodan wasn't mentioned in the new title is any ones guess.

A new planet behind Jupiter's causing magnetic disturbances.

Astronauts Glen & Fuji are sent up there to find why,they don't have long to wait.
Seems robots called Xites live there,also Ghidrahs having fun shooting up the planet,that's why they have to live underground.

They wanted us to come to for permission to get Earth monsters Godzilla and Rodan to defeat Ghidrah,if we do that they'll give us a miracle drug that will cure all disease,meaning we'll never die.

Who could resist that,so we agree!.A few questions,since these are robots,who made them,or did they just turn on there creators,the real inhabitants of the planet and kill them,and if Ghidrah's only driven off planet-x,where do you think he'll go?.

Turns out it's all a big lie,after a brief fight on the planet Ghidrah flies away,and Godzilla does the Highland Fling,(I believe he learned that from Nessie,it would seem to make sense,although no one in Scotland ever reported seeing this).

After returning to Earth,they play the tape,and Controller X says surrender the planet Earth to us or we'll use Godzilla Ghidrah and Rodan to destroy all of you!.

Our only chance is an A cycle literay,and Fujis sisters boyfriend Tetsuo,who's made an annoying device called The Lady Guard Alarm,just turn up the volume on your radios and TVs and wear earplugs!,oh and Tokyo gets destroyed,(like big surprise).

The horrible noise causes the aliens to finally commit suicide,and the monsters are free to try to kill eachother.

They end up crashing into the water,Ghidrah comes up and flies away,we won't see Godzilla until later that same year in Godzilla vs. The Sea Monster,as for Rodan,he'll have to wait till it's time for us to Destroy All Monsters.

MONSTER ZERO wasn't released in 1967, that was SON OF GODZILLA.  MZ was released in 1965. Rodan wasn't mentioned in the video title because he isn't a household monster name.  it's all about marketing, there.  the Xians (not Xites) are not robots.  GODZILLA VS THE SEA MONSTER was made the following year in 1966.

Okay I see where I'm wrong about when it was made,but somehow,it just didn't seem to fit the criteria,what with Frankenstine Conquers the World being made along with War of the Gargantuas at about the same time.
However,many thanks again David my friend for giving me the opportunity to return to this sight,because once again I see where I missed a word or two.

The Xians,be they robots or machines wanted us to come to them so they could ask us for permission to get Godzilla and Rodan to fight off Ghidrah,which of course we all know by now was just a rouse to get not only Ghidrah,but Godzilla and Rodan under there control to try to make Earth part of there colony.

Oh yes I forgot to say anything about Rodan,you are right,I remember now.

I said over at the Rodan sight,of the Toho 3 he wasn't as popular as Gaos,a fitting tribute to a Gamera foe,which raises another question for you to ponder,Godzilla vs. The Sea Monster,why didn't they call it Godzilla and Mothra Meet The Sea Monster?.Mothra's there national treasure.

I'm guessing because Mothra only had a bit part in this movie and really didn't meet the big shrimp,though he did get one good shot on Godzilla with one of wings.

How do I do it!?,just one word,one,Mothra got a good shot against Godzilla with one of his wings.One or 1,I know I should proof read my thoughts before post,it's just one those things I get carried away with,I'll try to do better from now on!.

However we all can agree this is one of the best sights on the internet.

It's funny how bad sequels can get.  I was a big Toho fan until this one came out.

As a kid, the original Godzilla gave me nightmares for years.

In this one, Barney the dinosaur is a whole lot scarier than the goofballs in these rubber suits.

Coincidentally, I happened to use this very cinematic gem to make a point on a blog I write.

Great lessons from bad movies......
