Title: El Dia de la Bestia
Post by: Neville on November 25, 2006, 04:10:12 PM
As a b-movie lover and a spaniard, I am really proud that you have discobered one of the recent jewels of spanish fantastic cinema. This was the director's Alex de la Iglesia ("from the church")second movie, after "Accion mutante" (I saw it reviewd somewhere). His other movies go on with wild humour and fabulous imagination and have become
big hits in Spain. They are "Perdita Durango" (shot in the US, with Javier Bardem starring), "Muertos de risa" and "La comunidad". All of them are really good. Santiago Segura, who plays Jose Maria here, has also become a very popular figure in here, starring & directing two at least curious flicks, "Torrente" & "Torrente 2", spanish revisions in comedy of "Dirty Harry".

If you have the chance, don't doubt to see any of this movies, you won't be dissapointed. By the way, one of the
projects of De la iglesia is to shot a Fu-Manchu movie. Successful negotiations have been carried out with Antonio Banderas and Robert de Niro! The project has been abandoned -it is too expensive for our country- but we can dream with the result, and who knows, maybe with time...

Hell-o!
This movie is probably my favorite! I saw it about 35 times, and I just can't get enough! The epitome of Death Metal (Evil humor!) This movie has to be ranked with Braindead, Bad Taste, From Dusk Til Dawn and Evil Dead I, II & III! A WONDER!!!
When you get tired of life, just press the "play" button of your VCR and...enjoy! That's it!
iEsto no es un juego!
