Title: Godzilla vs. Megaguirus
Post by: giganman on November 25, 2006, 04:10:12 PM
Godzilla vs megaguirus was pretty stupid.megaguirus was a monster made because they were desperate for a new movie. They should go for somethting like "orga returns" or"godzilla vs mecha-mothra"

One of the worst Gozilla movies, man they wanted to cash big on this one, the special effects are ridiculous, and i do mean ridiculous, the G suits looks really washed up, MegaGuirus shows is beautiful suppose to be hidden whires when he flies, the damn special effect team didnt even bother hidding them, what a joke.

You can cleary see the city and the rest is rushed and the special effects of the trash can and cars are so horrible.

Nothing to compare to the great movie Gamera 3, this one is a must for any monter movie fan, and Godzilla VS Mechagodzilla 2004, this one is a stealer and far better then Megaguirus.

At least they took the time to make the special effects credible.

I'm not as harsh (or incoherent) as Yannick about GvM, but there are some pretty bad moments. The "ocean" scenes featuring humans are obviously shot in a studio pool (as noted in the review) and a key moment from the climax--in which a character ejects from an aircraft and lands safely, without a parachute, in a public swimming pool--is amazingly preposterous.

On the other hand, the flooding of the city, the "revised history" scenes of Godzilla's past attacks, and the CGI giant insect swarms looked fantastic when I saw them on the big screen; I don't know how well they come off on video.

It's pretty hit-and-miss, but enjoyable if you're in the right frame of mind. I'm glad the generally-awful Millenium Series is drawing to a close--Megaguirus and "Godzilla 2000"'s Orga were the only original monsters in the whole series, and only "Godzilla-Mothra-King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack" was truly outstanding--and hope that next time Godzilla gets to really thrash.

Ok.....time for me to come to defense of this film I guess.  I used to do Andrew's Monster Island website reviews sometime ago and have been a diehard kaiju fan forever and it's just kinda sad to see this film being rip to shreds....this is really old school G-flick

I really REALLY like the score for this movie...it highlights the action regularly and seeing Godzilla with the music playing just totally makes my day.

Godzilla's jumping for a reason.  that shot in particular is a tribute to stunt actor Tsuto Kitagawa's work in Sentai series like Dynaman and Power Rangers.

There's a lot of criticism about the wires being visible but they aren't as visible on Toho's DVD...the reason being is Sony "cleaned up" the picture to an extent that an affect meant to cover the wires in the intro scene of Megaguirus is ruined...

That being said I find this flick better than Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah: All Monsters Attack but just shy of Godzilla Against MechaGodzilla by the same director as this flick.  I highly recommend reviewing that one Andrew...the battle between G and MechaG is great!!!!!!!!

I did hate the movie, its just sad to see the they dont pay more attention to details and the movie looks to me like it was rushed out.

Godzilla is a lot more popular then Gamera, how come the Gamera Triology is so well done when Godzilla is poorly done.

I dont mean all the G movies of course but even so, G vs Ghirora is pertty crappy in term of special effect, and laggs, Godzilla vs mechagodilla 2 in 1993 is pathetic in term of special effects, G vs Destroyer is very good and space godzilla is another attrocity of the serie.

In All monster attack the only bad thing is Godzilla himself, he was so damn hot in G2000 when the costume was redonne, now he looks more like a possessed T-Rex then a Godzilla monster.

Lets hope for the best in futur godzilla movies, with G vs mechagodzilla 2004 they are on the right track for sure, the movie rocks and G too.

Wait a minute .. bad SFX in a Godzilla film?  The devil you say!  Well, I always thought that was part of the charm.
I have liked the Millemium G films for the most part.  Really like the opponent in this film as well.

I just love this movie. I own the Officially liscensed Toho VCD's that were released in Hong Kong. I've had them for years. If you take it as it is, a homage to the silliness of the Showa movies, you will be okay. And being that I am a female, I just love Kudo. The dubs just do not do all of the characters justice. I highly recommend watching it with the Japanese language track and subtitles.

Oh and just one more thing, Magaguiras is not a female. Megaguiras is in fact a male. On my VCD, the literal translation in the subtitles states that he is the King of all the Meganula. If you need comfirmation I will take a screen grab for you.

"GODZILLA VS MEGAGUIRUS" is the coolest Godzilla film ever made. Godzilla looks a lot like the one from "GODZILLA 2000" and "GODZILLA AGAINST MECHAGODZILLA", but it is not. Godzilla also made the greastest victory I've ever seen. That's all for now...

I suppose it will all end with Final Wars.  I thought it would simply be a remake of Destoy all Monsters, but they are bringing back all sorts of old creatures.  Even that giant Sea Shrimp and the planet X aliens.  Should be really ... odd.

great to watch this movie ! The way they tell the story and
all the 'special effects', I love everything (it's just so fun),

it reminds me the power of imagination little kids have, always inventing stories about big monsters destroying everything, and how people find a way to fight them back,
without any kind of sophisticated 'FX'

very refreshing and funny !

Godzilla vs. Megagurius is 10 times better than Gamera 3 The new godzilla suit was very beautiful and quite scary and Megagurius was very fast-moving and can easily dodge Godzilla's Fire ray the Miniatures were very realistic and so were the monsters but I don't know what happens to Godzilla at the end. A great godzilla movie with beautiful special effects Godzilla vs. Megagurius is a must-see movie.

For anyone with the Japanese version, is there any explanation for why the city was suddenly under water?

Megaguirus is the only original monster(since 1989's Biolantte) that Toho has set out on having Godzilla(actually,Godzilla's grown-up son in his second, and last, film appearance after "Godzilla 2000")battle in midst of their endless revisiionist recreations of the Big G,and his nonstop return battle with old foes(Ghidorah,MechaGodzilla, and Mothra).

As much as I enjoy all of the latest films,I just hope that "Godzilla:Final Wars" gives the current Godzilla some much needed closure until Toho can come up with new and inventive idea(and rival monsters)for Godzilla to literally tackle.

I felt this movie was rather entertaining every G-Fan knows Godzilla has a hard time fighting Monsters more moneverable than him, but I do feel that Megagurius came up short on defense two hits from the heat ray, and it dies come on, and I understand that the costume was thinned to make Godzilla appear less fat, but they took it a bit to far he looks positively rediculous from the front. I Give this movie a 3 out 5

One of the stoopidest Godzilla movies ever made. How the hell are you going to stop Godzilla with bazookas when tanks helicopters jets and lasers have no effect on him no wonder Tsujimori commanding officer died it was one of the most retarded plans ever scene in a Godzilla movie. The scenes of the queen Megaguirus destroying the city was ruined by wires that was as visible as Godzillas back plates I dont know why they didn't use a computer generated Megaguirus for these scenes. One good reason for seeing this is the scene where Megaguirus pimps slaps Godzilla.Buy GAMMERA VS LEGION before you buy this carbage.I give it 2 stars sorry.

This Godzilla film is one of my all time favorite monster movies. Its plot and story is well thought out and well made.
The special effects are well made and perfectly made yet during the opening scene with Megaguirus On the US dvd you can see the stings holding it . The final fight between Godzilla and Megaguirus though short it still is better than the even shorter monster fights in Godzilla FINAL WARS. I  give this spectular Godzilla film 5 stars and even if your not a major Godzilla fan you should see it !!!

Ah Godzilla vs. Megaguirus, first of all do any of you remember The Family Guy episode where they sang about the Hic-A-Doo-La world?,well I'll be your Megaguirus boy if you'll be my Megaguirus girl and together it is a Megaguirus world,MEGAGUIRUS!,it has marriot, because they use fighter Peter Griffins to fight both Godzilla & Megaguirus----M-E-G-A-G-U-I-R-U-S!!.

Anyway the lastest attempt to rid the world of Godzilla is to get him into a wormhole, during on of the tests, some kinda of dragonfly comes out of the past.

Yet another Kenny finds it's egg,now don't tell me that kids in Gamera movies are more annoying than kids in Godzilla movies,I think they're ten times worst.

Knowing he can't keep the egg he drops it in swear,I could say more, but I won't,except there are Ralph & Ed Japanese lookalikes.

We're treated to a vengeful female who's joined G-Force to get even with Godzilla for killing her commanding officer back in 66,watch the scene where see plays Capt.Ahab.

All sorts of things happen,Tokyo gets flooded,we have huge insects flying all over the place who keep getting in the way everytime they try to use the wormhole gun located in space against Godzilla.

The government guy who hides the fact there's a nuclear power plant underneath a building in Tokyo. The scientist lady who really gets POed at him when she finds out,and of course,The Great Kudo, maker of mini robots to entertain children, and computer geek extraordinar.

Plus the Mother of all battles between a really overweight Godzilla and extream giant Mother of all Dragonflies Queen!,and the wormhole gun of death and destruction, especially after it runs out of fuel and heads toward Earth.
It's kinda like skylab revisited--Megaguirus!.

One of the things that keeps my busy and comming back to the same sight once in a while is the I'm rushed for time, such as here again I see where I left out a word or two and misspelled a word.

I meant to say watch the scene where she plays Capt.Ahab, our vengeful woman who joined G-Force,and I find it just alittle too convenient Godzilla stayed on the surface long enough for her to plant the tracking device on him, almost as though it were planned that way.

And kids being ten times worst in Godzilla films than Gamera films,I was wrong,I meant to say ten times worse.

So once again having vindicated myself,I bid you ado in the exciting world of Megaguirus!.
