Title: Film Restoration with 700 Apple Power Mac G5 Computers
Post by: Andrew on December 15, 2006, 12:59:13 PM
The following Wired story talks about a service that restores films using a huge bank of Apple Power Macs.  It sounds like the results are excellent.  Hopefully, the cost will decrease and some of the old b-movies and bad movies that have suffered will be restored.

Man, a digitally restored version of The Terror of Tiny Town. (http://www.badmovies.org/movies/tinytown/)  (I can always dream, can't I?)

Sounds cool, although I also get the impression a very badly damaged film (especially with those that have consistent frame-to-frame damage, or have a lot of cuts) would still be better suited to manual restoration.
