Title: Killer Dolls movie. Could anyone help me?
Post by: Midian on January 04, 2007, 12:40:48 PM
Long time ago I saw this movie of a car driving in a forest in a rainy night. The car broke near an old mansion and this little girl and (I think) her adoptive parents asked for help inside. There lived an old man who made dolls (porcelain dolls, I am not sure). Maybe her "parents" wanted to stole something to the old man but the dolls woke up at night and killed them (I don't remember the reason but the parents were the bad ones). The young girl liked the dolls and she was never harmed. The old man and her became friends and it is possible that there were a young boy working with the old man, I don't remember.

The movie looked like late 80s or early 90s and I'm quite sure that it was not Child's Play, Puppet Master or Magic.

Any idea?

Thanks a lot.

This sounds a lot like a film that's just called "Dolls", but I think it was a couple that made the porcelain dolls in that one.  And there were other people there too, including this fat guy the little girl went home with at the end.

Yeeah, this is the movie.

Now I remember more people in the film. The fat guy who was a lawyer or something was hidding from the storm too, and finally he takes care of the young girl.

Wow, it is a Stuart Gordon film !!

Thank you.

I just want to verify the movie is indeed "Dolls" w/ the late, great Guy Rolfe as the dollmaker. I saw it years ago, and the only thing I remember is that firggin' teddy bear. It scared the friggin' **** out of me, when I saw the movie.

one of my favorite movies. i dont know how many times i have watched it.
i have not been dissapointed with any gordan film i have seen.
it had to take a lot of work to bring those dolls to life and some were actually kinda creepy.

I became of a fan of it after catching it on the late night movie on a local station, where it was in regular rotation with stuff like They Live. One of the few doll or little monster/creature/whatever movies that I actually found creepy but with traces of black humor that worked.

Strangely enough it was one of the films they would air unedited, maybe they (or whoever they bought the programming package from) figured they were in the "safe harbor" time with the FCC , I never saw it on there other than late at night. Some films were cut that aired at that time (like Day of the Dead), some weren't (like The Klansman).

My girlfriend is a big fan of this flick, which is why I bought it for on DVD  the Christmas before last. I have since had to watch it two or three times and well... don't tell her, but it's kind of grown on me. I used to despise the movie but now I don't mind it so much.... but I'll never admit that, not even if I was in court and had my hand on a Bible. LOL!
