Title: GAME - Name that MONSTER!
Post by: CheezeFlixz on January 09, 2007, 12:48:57 PM
First I hope this is the right area for this, but I was thinking (it didn't hurt much) ... is there any animal or thing that has not been turned into a monster yet?

So let's try a little game ...

1. Name the monster and someone else must name the movie and year it was in and then name another monster that has been in a movie. It doesn't just have to be the monsters name but a type of monster. Being that are so many monster movies, please try NOT to repeat a movie that has been listed already! If a monster has been in more than one movie name as many as you can, if there movie monster already listed, but one of it's movie has not please go ahead and name it so we are not repeating the same monster.

2. Now in the highly unlikely event that your monster is not identified in a couple of days, please provide the answer and post a new one or pass. Somehow, I doubt there is any monster that will escape identification by the collective brain mass of this board.

Clearly this will get harder are the answers run on, so with all that said I'll start with the painfully easy monster! Which I think has about 100+ films out there.

Example I start with GORILLA and someone list ...

King Kong (1933, 1976, 2005)
Congo (1995)
White Pongo (1945)
Night of the Bloody Ape (1969)
The Monster and the Girl (1941)
The Monster Maker (1944)
The Ape (1940)
The Mighty Gorga (1969)
Ape (1976)
The Son of Kong (1933)

So since there are many more movies out there of this monster I'll continue with ...

Gorilla?

Hmmmm... I've seen a few in my time...

Konga (1961)
The Monster Walks (1932)
Bride of the Gorilla (1951)
Mighty Peking Man (1977)
King Kong vs. Godzilla (1962)
Bela Lugosi Meets A Brooklyn Gorilla (1952)
Hillbillies in a Haunted House (1967)
King Kong Escapes (1967)
King of Kong Island (1968)
Queen Kong (1976)

Augh!
That's actually harder than it seems, as I think even though there ARE perhaps hundreds of Gorilla Monster movies, the same ones tend to get watched and rewatched --
For example:  Just Plain Horse took my two favorites right away:  King Kong vs. Godzilla and Bride of The Gorilla -- both of which I own.
How about 7/8ths of a Gorilla???:  Robot Monster!!!

Soon as you feel we are out of Gorilla movies feel free to list a new monster and if we missed one from a Gorilla or what ever monster we've done, just add it in.

I not only considered- but passed on- Robot Monster but also The Manster because there's a guy in what looks like a very hairy, white gorilla suit early in the movie... but I'm not sure either properly count.

I think Robot Monster would have to be listed as an alien monster, but since the monster was about 90% Gorilla I think it counts. As for The Manster I think that might be better listed as an mutant, it's been decades since I've seen The Manster so perfer I should defer to someone with a fresher memory.

More for GORILLA

"Planet of the Apes" (1968, 2001)
"Beneath the Planet of the Apes" (1970)
"Escape from the Planet of the Apes" (1971)
"Conquest of the Planet of the Apes" (1972)
"Battle for the Planet of the Apes" (1973)
"The Beast that Killed Women" (1965)
"Two Lost Worlds" (1951)
"Kentucky Fried Movie" (1977)

Notes
All of the "Planet of the Apes" films.  I think that the third, "Escape from" even had a gorilla.  The one creature from "Two Lost Worlds" is supposed to be a sloth, a giant ground sloth I suppose, but it looks more like a gorilla.  Maybe Ken Begg can answer this:  what were they in "Mistress of the Apes?"  I think that "The Beast that Killed Women" was a gorilla.  I know that multiple "Tarzan" movies have had them.  Does anyone know specific title names?

EDIT:  Cleaned up the layout and added the year info, as I was instructed in the original post.

Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation (2004) [Alien/Bug?]
Starship Troopers (1997) [Alien/Bug?]

Movie with an "eye" is IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE. The film had some kind of glossy alien eye from which the viewer saw the next victim from.
