Title: Starcade!
Post by: Ash on January 26, 2007, 07:20:37 AM
Remember Starcade (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starcade)?
That awesome video game show from the early 80's?

I used to watch it all the time when I was a boy.
The Starcade website has evolved quite a bit since its early inception.

They now have ten full shows for you to watch and lots of other neat stuff to check out.
Be sure to look at the "Games" section which shows video clips for each of those old school games that some of us here remember dumping tons of quarters into.
Just watching them brings back memories.

Even if Starcade was before your time, you seriously might enjoy watching a show or two.

What do you think?
Do you remember watching this show?

Apparently Starcade started about a year before I was born and ended a year after.  I obviously don't remember it from then.

However, I discovered Starcade a few years ago on G4 before they raped and took over TechTV.  During the day, they would show two or three episodes of Starcade.  Always found the show to be pretty amusing.  Terrible production values and such.

Sadly, G4 quit showing it a few years ago.

I remember this show! Wow, what a trip down memory lane. I love the page that updates the whereabouts of some of the contestants.

I remember it, I loved arcade games, but my allowance was small and irregular, and trips to the mall, much less the arcade, were rare. So seeing them on a show on our brand new cable hookup was double cool in my young mind. I was big Xevious fan back then, although I was really horrible at it. Spy Hunter, Tempest,. Tron, Elevator Action, and Commando as well, but some of those were after the life of the show. I was good at Dig Dug though. Man was that host lame, and he kept getting game show hosting work.

Thanks for making me feel old Skaboi. I already had a dose of that once today. I was talking with a girl I hang out with (I sometimes call her "the not girlfriend" on here) about comedy and comedians, Carrot Top came up in the conversation, one of her friends likes him, I like that he "gets" that he's a lame prop comic. I said that he was better than Gallagher, then had to explain who he was and what the "Sledge-o-matic" was etc since she had no idea who he was.

Now that I finally have a lawn I need to get the neighbor kids to cut across it so I can tell them to get off of it.
