Title: Birdshot: what's your flavour?
Post by: Dr. Whom on January 31, 2007, 09:57:46 AM
This company claims the following

Season Shot is made of tightly packed seasoning bound by a fully biodegradable food product. The seasoning is actually injected into the bird on impact seasoning the meat from the inside out. When the bird is cooked the seasoning pellets melt into the meat spreading the flavor to the entire bird. Forget worrying about shot breaking your teeth and start wondering about which flavor shot to use!

Is this for real? If so, the garlic shot will be popular with vampire hunters.

Sometimes, I think that people do things just to rile up PETA.  I guess the only big concern people would have is the lethality of the shot.  I mean, would you want to be shredded by salt and pepper, but it not kill you?  If you were a big, that is.

In practicality, this is not going to work.  Sometimes, only a few pellets hit a bird.  You will not get an even flavoring like that.  Sure, you will not bite into a pellet, but you will get a solid taste of "Number 2 Doveload Spicy."

I can't wait for it to turn up in some CSI type series. I can see the pathologist/detective/whatever saying  'The victim took three slugs of Extra Hot Chili in the chest. Two more  were found embedded in the wall. We're looking for a hunter who likes spicy foods'

And you've got to like their slogan: Shoots, kills, seasons.
