I'm a purist.  I think that the best poster of all time is for "Fobidden Planet".  Sure, it has nothing to do with the movie but the robot and girl just sell the movie.

Mmm, god old Boris Valejo.  Did a bunch of good Dragon magazine covers, too.

That Headless Eye one is the same cover as the Killer Eye.

Was it just renamed for a different country or some such thing (the red warning sticker looks vaguely Canadian)?

I just like the composition of it ....

Killer Eye recycled the Headless Eyes cover I think cause Headless Eyes is from the 70's.

Most every 1950s Sci-Fi poster advertising for America stands out in some fashion or another.

My Favourite though is probably:

Nope, that isn't the Canadian cover. Here, we call it The Killer Eye, too.

My favorite cover art is the DVD art for CRITTERS. Just something about all the little buggers parading around appeals to me.

Scott just keeps finding them --
There's something about the Hammer posters, taken as a group, that have their own special feel -- From the '50's and '60's, lurid, yes, but with their own panache.
I especially like the Hammer posters for The Reptile, and The Mummy, with the light streaming through the shotgun hole in Christopher Lee.
German poster art for anything in the 1920's and '30's was something fierce too -- check out the posters for anything by Fritz Lang from that era, or the posters for Das Kabinet aus Dr. Caligari, or Metropolis, or M, or . . . Really, all of them have a "Sterk" Art-Deco quality that makes them instantly memorable.
Maybe Scott can post a few of those, please?

Wow,Mr.BriggsINC, that IS a bizzare ad!I like forgien ads myself, because they distort and exploit the films, truth and logic be damned! As in this ad for The Phantom Ship, also known as MYSTERY of the MARIE CELESTE,with Bela Lugosi from 1939...In no way was Bela a Vampire in this movie,yet....

Notice how much the wee beastie looks like the alien from THE ATOMIC SUBMARINE?

Umm actually it predates ATOMIC SUBMARINE. Definite sexual connotations in so much of the poster work from this era and in the old sci-fi magazines too...a one-eyed monster terrorizing a scantilly clad woman :buggedout: :bouncegiggle: :teddyr:

MONSTER FROM THE OCEAN FLOOR is Corman's first producing effort.  I've reviewed it for Scifilm. Actually I've reviewed ATOMIC SUBMARINE over there too.

Come to think of it, I very much like the cover for the new "Galaxina" release.  It has a great pulp science fiction comic book feel.

I know they're not exactly the most valuable posters in the world but I love both of the films and I like both of the posters (and luckily they're both rolled, not folded).

There're too many cool posters out there.  I'll post some Polish poster for fun, 'cause they're usually kind of crazy.

Raiders of the Lost Ark

Weekend at Bernies

Aliens

Yes the Polish Posters are cool, but now all the Polock jokes I've heard make more sense now .... the damn image on the poster has nothing to do with the movie.

Seeing as I'm not really sure how to post an image, I'll just say that I really enjoy the DVD cover art for "Ice Cream Man."  Clint Howard looks like he's picking his nose.

Here's a link to the Amazon site if you want to see the art.

For myself it's this beauty...

I was nine when this sucker came out, the commercials were nothing short of horrific...I loved it.  I even got the Fangoria horror film postcard book that came out about that time!

The movie world between my 6th and 14th birthdays was like a delirious climax of the Silver Age of B-Movies.
MOTEL HELL, WITHOUT WARNING, BLOOD BEACH, UP FROM THE DEPTHS, HUMANOIDS FROM THE DEEP, PROPHECY(It's a B Movie dammit!), GRIZZLY, NIGHTWING, THE BOOGENS, HUMONGOUS, BUG, SQUIRM...I could go on all night, but I'm starting to make myself cry. :bluesad:

Yep, that once one big, ugly bear. It's enough to make you lay off the mercury-flavored trout.

I must be slightly older, as my formative years were spent with the likes of Night of the Lepus, Frogs, It's Alive, Orca, The White Buffalo, Blacula, Count Yorga - Vampire, Planet of the Apes 3-5, SSSSSSS ("Hiss It, Don't Say It!"), The Boy Who Cried Werewolf (Hippies vs. werewolf!), Billy Jack, The Trial of Billy Jack, Walking Tall, etc. ad nauseum. I was lucky enough (movie wise) to grow up in a very small southern town with a down-on-its-luck movie theater, which played about every low budget horror and action film that came along in the early to mid 70's. We didn't get Star Wars, but by God we got Laserblast

Back on topic: Two of my favorite posters I saw outside of the "Beautiful Lake Theater".
God bless you, Bill Harris, where ever you are...

Everybody knows this one featured a terrific killer baby.
Not everybody knows the baby was designed by Rick Baker and the film score was by the legendary Bernard Herrmann.

This poster image actually appeared in animated form at the end of the film and swallowed the hand with aloud burp.
That's Entertainment!

BONUS!
I ran across this gem while looking for the Frogs poster. The poster doesn't see fit to mention it, but this one features Faster, p***ycat! Kill! Kill! star Tura Santana.

Move along.
Nothing to see here...
