Title: Yellow Hair and the Fortress of Gold Post by: Andrew on February 11, 2007, 11:10:21 AM This movie is a verified cure for insomnia. I have tried to watch it four nights and, every time, it puts me to sleep after about 15-20 minutes. Hopefully, with the aid of something (caffeine, a large straight pin, etc) I will be able to finish it this evening.
Yellow Hair is a woman with blonde hair who was raised by the Apaches. She gets into some rather comical adventures in her quest to recover a sacred horn and gold nugget so that her adoptive mother's spirit can go to the afterlife. There is a valley with a temple and a special tribe that maintains it. They capture trespassers and soak their heads in a vat of liquid gold. They also have decoys made from gold (or porcelain) covered bodies, so that when someone shoots at them all that happens is a decoy busts into pieces. Oh, and there is a running joke of one grizzled bad guy who keeps getting more and more injured. He starts off mute (due to injuries I think), takes an arrow in the leg, and now has a wheeze from being stabbed in the chest. Last I saw him, a stagecoach ran over him. In case this sounds interesting, I remind you: it puts me to sleep after about 15 minutes every time. Something of an 80s B-Western merged with 80s Fantasy. Honestly, I didn't have any problem staying awake for it. The movie that seems to put me to sleep without fail is Ed Wood's Orgy of the Dead.
