Title: NO MORE SAW MOVIES PLEASE!
Post by: KYGOTC on February 22, 2007, 07:07:07 PM
At first, it was.........mildly amusing, I guess. I got bored with it really quickly. Then i forgot all about it. Few years roll  by and Saw 2 takes a dump on horror cinima. I watched  it at a friends house on his brothers computer. The Jigsaw puppet was about as frightening as Fozzie bear. The whole thing was rip off after rip off until it seemed to be a bit of a self-parody. I didn't even bother with Saw 3. I heard it sucked. No suprises there. And now I hear the whoozits of a SAW 4 comming out?! NOT COOL! Now, I undersatand that no one is FORCING me go and see these steaming piles, but just knowing that they are still making more sorta makes me wanna do ............something.  ........something.....bad.

I saw the trailer for the first movie and that was enough for me - I've never seen any of them   I love horror movies but that just looked so silly.

This is probably going to make everyone groan but I believe that there is a Saw IV on the way and that Johnny Knoxville has expressed interest in being in it. I think I saw (no pun intended) this on JK's wikipedia page.

Well, looks like we're in for a long night, because I read they were contracted for six of them...

I actually enjoyed the three films, and I'm curious to see how they'd do a fourth, but I'm not holding out much hope.  I'll hold any judgments until I actually see the film.

there is a saw 4 in the works. i like the saw trilogy, i dont really like the second one to much but i dig the first one and third one. i just met shawnee smith, tobin bell and leigh whannell all very cool people. idk there are worse movies to complain about while saw may not be the best its still better than the s**t we have been being fed latley so why dont you b***h about the messengers, number 23, and norbitt and give saw a little respect. ive said it before the movie was fresh when it first came out, theres nothing really cliche about it (if there is i wanna know) ive read some posts on here about this topic that it seems like the person(s) never saw the damn movie. idk whatever bottom line is they arent as bad as you make them to be.

Maybe Saw 4 will finally reveal precisely what happened to Dr. Gordon. I have this mental image of a one-footed Cary Elwes bent on revenge...

Saw IV comes out this October, and they're supposedly in early preparation for Saw V

I'm so sick of the SAW franchise, all the movies just look like MTV music videos. They won't stop milking the concept it seems like, it's suppose to be the "Friday the 13th" of this generation, ugh.

Yeah, seriously, whats even worse is that people (dumb people that think these new-age sort of "horror" , if you can call them that, movies are good) keep goign and seeing them, and maybe even liking them even thought they wicked suck, and then the movie people get money, and they go "well, 500 million people saw this (sh*tty) movie, so it MUST be a real good movie, and we got millions of dollars from it, so lets keep making more of them!"  oh man, save us from the ohrrible movies and remakes!! please!

Even though I hated Scary Movie 4 (actually, it's the only one so far that I didn't like, yes, I thought the 2nd one was funny) I did really like the whole Saw spoof with Shaq and Dr. Phil.

I agree. #1 was sort of fun, but #2 was just plain silly, and all #3 had in its sleeve was more gore.

I haven't seen any of the SAW films, but I only really plan to watch the first. The premise just doesn't seem like something I'd like all that much. Now about the upcoming fourth film... Now, come on people, we don't need this. Soon, SAW will rival Friday the Thirtenth in sequels!

I was talking about this to a friend tonight and he predicts that since every seaquel has made more money then the preveious one, there just gonna keep puttin 'em out every october. The bastards. I love October. Now they're gonna ruin it. What do people see in those damn things?! Screw it. I'm gonna go watch "Critters".

I was bored of SAW after the first one.  :twirl:

I guess it's the new horror franchise.

I think I prefer when the infinite sequels star hands on killers with weapons and masks, though.

...and seventies chicks getting their REAL boobs out.

The first one was good, the second not so good, the third.......was bloody awful(no pun intended) to many why's? with the third one why didn't he wrap his robe around the woman in the freezer? why didn't he use the abundance of junk lying around to jamb the mechanisms on the cross? why didn't his wife tell him about the collar? why did anyone think the chained up guy have any hope of removing the loop through his jaw?

They ran this one into the ground after the first one and much like Nightmare, Halloween, and Friday its gonna get flogged to death until it becomes a joke :bluesad:

Well I think they should make a SAW IV and the victims should be the director and producers of the first 3, difference being ... this times it's for real with no special effect!!! And for Saw V it would be a film of them destroying all copies of the first 4 and that stupid little puppet too ... ooohhh a puppet, I'm so afraid.

The answer is, well, some people find puppets to be creepy. Like clowns I guess.

Title: Re: NO MORE SAW MOVIES PLEASE!

My sister gave us an old Charlie McCarthy dummy, sans suit and hat,and he sits on a deacon's bench in the living room.  Everyone who sees it says" That's real creepy!" Even my kids want me to stick it in the closet or something. Of course, that's why I won't (heheheheheheheheh)
Lon Chaney Sr. had a comment about clowns, along the lines of a clown in a circus is funny...but a clown standing  outside your door at midnight is not! Think about it...brr....!
All this doesn't mean anything in regards to SAW...I still think they all sucked.

Indeed. My wife finds them very creepy. In fact, she has avoided watching all the TV ads for the new Dead Silence film because of the puppet/doll angle to the movie and has told me quite firmly that she will not be watching it with me ever.

My sister is that way too. She watched the first "Child's play" film when she was on her teens, and she moved several dolls to my room that very night. The funny thing is that they were dressed in all sorts of regional clothes, which didn't make them exactly scary. Think about Urkel-style dressing.

The Saw movies aren't quite as bad as other stuff that passes for horror these days...but I do agree that, like all the others, they're much too airbrushed and Hollywood.  The great thing about the older horror movies from the late 70's and 80's, is that they were gritty and had actors that seemed like real people, even if they couldn't really act sometimes.

Today's horror movies are basically stylized fluff, masquerading as gritty, featuring pretty boys, "hot" plastic girls, and often loads of CGI. It's like a rich girl's idea of what's scary, almost.

It's just another example of Hollywood stuck in its "New is better!" mindset.  Just look at all the remakes of classic horror movies.

My feelings exactly!!!! Too much chrome...you always know your watching a movie,it's almost like MTV with monsters. Kinda like the music they call "punk" these days. Place Green Day next to old school Black Flag. no heart or feeling behind it. The original Texas Chainsaw benifitted from it's low budget,no name actors, and the new one, welllet's just say I expected R.Lee Emery  to stick a jelly donut in the victums mouth. The editing and fast forward jump cuts in SAW was a constant(and annoying) reminders of  that, this was a MOVIE. In the first HILLS HAVE EYES,the scene where Micheal Berryman is in the camper, jamming raw hamberger into his mouth is much scarier than a lot of the costly fx or CGI gore you see in movies now. He just looked and seemed like a real, insane animal, and not an actor with a bunch of plastic  on his face. To horrify people you need to believe what is on the screen, not just throw fx at the audiance. And I dislike the Ken and Barbie victums too, Franklin in the original TCM was a real flawed person, not a collage MTV kid.

I wouldnt even classify the Saw franchise as horror,  more thriller then anything.

Just because you guys dont like the movies they should stop making them? Gimme a break, these movies are better then 99% of the s**t there making now.

Depending on where they go with the 4th film, it wouldnt bother me if they keep making more.

Not really, there's just so little content to them. It's not even like they're movies to me, but rather like some people sat down and thought up the most torturous things that can be filmed for maximum shock value, and connected them with a paper-thin story, if you can even call it that. I can't really think of much that ISN'T better. .

As far as I'm concerned, any movie(s) that bring down the standards that far can be done without. It just makes the entire business lazy.

The worst part is that kids are watching these not because it's a good movie of is entertaining, but because it's the thing to do, like it's some kind of right-of-passage, peer pressure thing. I have a teenage son, and he and several of his friends admit to watching them because everyone else did, and not perticularly liking them, and idiots chastizing them for it, just stupid kid games. It's kinda like Napolean Dynamite, people watched it so they would get all the inside jokes and weird quotes other people were making. All in all it's widely considered a crappy flick by many, probably by most.

As long as they keep making money, they'll keep making Saw movies.

But a lot of people are thinking that the whole so called torture-porn craze has ended with Hostel Part 2 bombing like they're no tomorrow in addition to the more recent Captivity tanking something fierce as well.

Lots of analysts are saying that if Saw 4 doesn't turn in big numbers, then this recent fad in horror films is completely done with.

A friend of mine lent the movie Turistas today that I'm going to watch sometime this weekend. He said that "it's much better than Hostel" which I thought was pretty good up until the 3rd act.  But Turistas is supposed to be  fairly decent from the reviews I've read.

I couldn't stand the 1st Saw, I thought the 2nd one was one of the most poorly acted movies that I've ever seen and I'm not even bothering with the 3rd or 4th ones.

Boy, put me in the minority on this one.  I loved SAW for one simple reason - I didn't see the end coming!  The conclusion of the film hit me like a solid roundhouse to the chin, and I was hooked!

Of course, neither of the sequels was as good as the first one, and I am sure Hollywood will run it into the ground like they do everything else . . .

but the first SAW movie was brilliant, in my opinion, and the other two were certainly watchable.

All I ask of a movie is . . .  entertain me!

What I spoke of is more appropriate for 2 & 3, saw 1 did have it's moments, but the overall scope of the movie IMO was not that interesting. What I did like was the fact that in the first one, especially the 1st half, reminded me of an infocom game.

Thats absolutely right. I would have never watched saw 2 and 3 if my friends hadn't shown it during one of our poker games.(this was a couple years ago I'm going to college now). Man I cant believe they actually thought those were good movies. The only thing that stops those movies from being completely boring is the gore. The only reason they throw it in there is for shock value.

HEY KIDS, LOOKY HERE:

Bloody-Disgusting, has just confirmed through multiple sources that David Hackl, the production designer on Saw II, Saw III and Saw IV and second unit director on Saw II and Saw IV has OFFICIALLY been attached to helm both Lionsgate's Saw V and Saw VI, assuming a hole doesn't form in the Earth and suck the franchise in with it. Will Jigsaw return? I'm sure he will. But this news comes so early don't expect much more until we see how well Saw IV does, which Hackl was once in the running to direct.

At this pace they'll milky more money out of a puppet than they did Chucky. I'm happy to say it won't be my money their milking ... wait to I smell direct to video? Yes I believe that the odor I smell. It might hit the theaters, but I doubt if it does it'll be there long.

I'm sure it will turn out the Jigsaw was just a pawn in someone else's bigger plot, and was forced to play the part he did. You heard it here first folks, I just saved everyone $7.50 and 2 hours of their life. Lol. ..
